is it tecnologically possible to go down far enough that the heat would vaporize water.

also addressing issues raised in mine question1

wouldent the effects be minimal on the core because it is so big?
what economic issues specifically?
addressing opening up a volcanic vent why not build it out say a half mile from the shore or in a dessert where their is no one around ? also is not this risk worth it in the face of near unlimited electrical power

see mine question 1

It is possible to drill down into the earth deep enough to harness the thermal energy

this can be done practically in places where the mantle is thin and the geology correct

there is lots of geothermal electrical generation in the country of Iceland

in most places, all though it would be possible to create such a thing, it would cost so much to build and be so expensive to operate that the energy would cost more than electricity from more traditional generation

there are engineers in many places looking at this kind of thing

they are being developed in only a few places because they do not pay out in most places

no one wants to build electric generation that can't compete with other available processes

in theroy yes
the rocks would need to be at a temp high enought to over come the water collom above it
i dont have a table on steam temp. vs. presure
but water for every 10 feet eqauls 23psi
most likely you would need to put the steam turbin underground to be closer enought to use the super heated steam you would need
