I am not an expert, but peanut allergies can be quite deadly. I would consult an allergist and try to nail down the cause of the allergic reaction (you didn't list what your reaction was??)

It is possible that you are allergic to something else in the peanut butter other than the peanuts. But it could be that the peanut butter is such a concentrated amount of peanuts that it is the peanuts that causes the allergy. I would be very careful eating peanuts, it usually isn't the first or even the second exposure that can cause the reactions. If in doubt I would have allergy testing, that way you won't be playing Russian roulette when you eat peanuts.

Be sure to read the label and see what else is in the peanut butter. You must not be allergic to peanuts or you'd be having a severe reaction to peanut butter! There are often preservatives that can cause reactions. Have you tried different brands of peanut butter and had different reactions? Are you sure it wasn't a reaction to the bread or cracker (or whatever) you put the peanut butter on?

yes you can grow out of an allergy. i am allergic to every nut, but i accidently treid an almond in a cake. Nothing happened. My mum said that praps im growing out of it. Your body can become imune from the allergy i think, it sounds like you had a mild allerrgy and maybe now it has calmed down. Details please - do you get tested for peanuts? - if you dont go to the doctor and see about all nuts including peanuts. Whats your age now? Have you eaten them in like the past week, month and so on? And are you JUST allergic to peanuts? also i check every packet of food bascially to make sure i can have it, but when it says 'may contain.....' just read the ingredients you will know then. The manufacture has to protect themselves icase someone sue's them for not saying it may have nuts in it.

Perhaps you are allergic to something that's added to the peanut butter while it's being made.

no way! if you're allergic to peanut butter...because of peanuts, then you will also be allergic to any other product that may have just small traces of peanuts.
