what do you think the meaning is?

what do you feel like the band is trying to get across in 'what hurts the most' by rascal flatts? im not too sure i understand the meaning of the song. i thought the couple just broke up, but now im thinking the boy died. the videos for it on myspace are diff from any ive seen thus far...

The boy died in the video. And its going through "what you meant to say/what you should have said" all those would have, should have, could have scenarios are going through the girls mind. Very sad video.
