(About global warming)

"Maybe they are cyclical changes! Who cares? It's still "global warming", even if it's not caused by man-made pollutants. The Bible plainly tells us that it will heat up, and that there will be major climatic changes. So why is it so easy for some to believe that we're seeing the beginning of the "wars and rumors of wars", pestilences, earthquakes, persecution against Christians, et cetera, yet so difficult to believe that the climate's changing? It's all a foreshadowing of what's to come."

"Waah, people are actually using their brains and rejecting my bullshit religion, so that qualifies as persecution." Non-Christians have had to endure thousands of years of persecution, so I don't want to hear ****-for-brains Fundies complaining about it. Do everyone a favor and hold a mass suicide, please.

You do realize that calling people "****-for-brains" and telling them to "hold a mass suicide" doesn't help, right? Only increases feelings of persecution?

WOW!!! Until I got to the last paragraph I was in agreement with you. The Bible does tell us of these things as does history and science. I believe that all science is agreeable with the Bible, I just think that too many people dont understand the Bible. Although, I dont think ANYONE that hasnt read it understands it, but I also think most Christians dont either.

I am a Christian, and I believe what is happening IS a cycle. I also believe that it is prophesied. The "end times" will come during one of these cycles, and this one bears a great resemblance to the Bible's predictions. There ARE great natural disasters, rumors of war, talk of world peace, persecution, etc. It IS possible that this IS the cycle predicted, but it isnt necessarily God saying "ok, Ive had enough, lets destroy mankind."- it's more like "ok, I have an appointment I must keep it!"

If people all knew WHO and WHAT God is, all would believe because it is really not that difficult to understand- whats difficult is getting people to set aside their selfish, egotistical, stubborn ideals and getting them, to see. If people knew, all of Gods's children (everyone) would be united.

The difference is that since 1914, these events have increased several hundred percent. Yes, man made pollution is the primary cause, but that is not to say the predictions are not true, as the predictions just cover what will happen, regardless of the cause and effect. It does not say that God would cause them to happen.

The biggest difference is the start of the first world war. The start of these events was established in the Book of Ezekiel and was easy for anyone to understand long before they began. There was one person in 1890 who said they would begin in 1914. He didn't predict it, just merely pointed out the science of the dates in the Bible. Of course taking into account that Jesus was born in the year 2 B.C. There is no years 1 B.C. to 0 to 1 A.D. It was 2 B.C. to 1 to 2 A.D.

Actually, Christians refuse to believe the predictions as a whole, as the word that is often translated as the second coming, actually translates as second presence of Christ on Earth.

They follow the example of the old Israelites, who believed Armageddon would take place immediately after Christ came the first time. Today's Christians, otherwise referred to in the Bible as the new Israelites, think that Armageddon would come immediately after the second time Christ came. As usual, history repeats itself.

for goodness sake I thought this would be a serious question . . .

While a lot of Christians do take global warming seriously--it is the more conservative political ones that don't cause they are somehow convinced that it will hurt businesses and all that. It's all about money, and people not wanting to change their lifestyles even a little bit to protect the environment.

And I imagine some of the tactics used by folks in the 60's-80's when global warming was not yet proven has something to do with it too. Just make it all harder to take seriously now that people associate environmentalism with a bunch of pot smoking tree-hugging hippies . . .

Too bad since it has actually been proven to be a real issue now!

Ok, rant over lol!

i might say actual no longer. If something, Evangelical, American Christians are those persecuting others. what number circumstances have we heard concerning to the communities that are out picketing the funerals of our fallen squaddies? what number circumstances have Evangelical Christian communities banned mutually to protest the rights and freedoms of others in accordance with faith, race and sexual determination? As I mentioned, Evangelical American Christians are those doing the persecuting. advantages,

.I guess they feel persecuted because anything remotely Christian has to be banned from public these days. Nativity scenes, crosses, a prayer. While other religions and secular speech and expressions are, "Free Speech!".
And what some of you are saying, that all Christians are brainwashed, and only do exactly as they're told to do, is a bunch of crap. That may be true in some churches but that isn't Christianity. Every religion has fanatics. Even Christian religions. But don't stuff us all in that box please.

Why do Muslims feel they are being persicuted? They want to kill Jews because of what? It is a religion of hate. D;o you hope to get 72 virgins when you die? Why not just get them while you live? Oh yeah, it is a sin! How stupid is that! think about it! If something is a sin in life, how would it be ok after death? And what about the women? Do they have to be stuck with a bunch of stupid inexperienced 'virgiin' muslim men? That would be hell, not heaven!

Well, I'm not as cynical or negative regarding the situation, but the whole "Christians are being perecuted" myth is just that, a myth. The Religious Reich has been exploiting this for a few years now, and paranoid rednecks out there are buying it.
