A compassionate and tactful approach is best. Be sure no one else can hear and start with some general chit chat. Then say, " You know, I have something to tell you and the only reason I'm saying anything at all is because I ( like, respect, admire choose a positive verb ) you and I'd hate for someone else to be mean to you. You have a little problem with body odor and I can help you find a solution" Then tell this person what some of your favorite products are. Also,it may take a little of the sting out of your remark if you tell a little white lie and say you had the same problem for awhile until you found the right anti-perspirant.

The problem is that you we will need to offend this person in order to get him/her them to address the problem. However think of something tactful but also impressive. This person will not like you for this most likely, but in the end you will only be helping him/her. No pain; no gain.

If something special of theirs is coming up (such as birthday etc.)
buy them a set of body wash, lotion, perfume, deodorant etc. or you can send something to them anonymously but don't just buy them a deodorant out of the blue, that will probably hurt their feelings.

1. Oh my God, you have GOT to try this perfume. It smells just like roses (or lillies or fresh rain or whatever). Or, for guys, chicks love this stuff. It is like pure animal magnetism in a bottle.
2. That perfume/cologne or deodorant you wear (even though you know they don't) is really bugging my allergies! You should try this...

Go ahead and tell them as diplomatically as possible.

They don't seem to mind offending you and others.

You may do them a favor.

Phew!

If a person can't distinguish between a good smell or a bad smell , they should be told bluntly.
