Why people are prejudice against pit bulls. Some people think they look like terrorists.

I for one dont hate Muslims and often defend their religion and way of life on here of which is remarkable being an athiest. I think most of the hate-mongering comes from the media and in-turn religious rivalry from the Christains. I do believe though that in here on YA there is much more hate directed towards the Muslims from the Christains than vise versa; it has been like this for may a centuary as many fail to (on both sides) take the time to understand each others religion. At the end of the day, its not a question of who's god is better than the other but the ego of the people doing the debating that is in question - ego and pride go a long way to be defended in life, part of being human.

Also what people often get quite 'uppty' about is the social and cultural aspect of the religion that does not fit to 'their' way of how things should be. Here in the West, democracy, freedom of speech and equality are values which are very highly regarded and protected. Many people in the West see countires that are mostly if not only Muslim as being degrading to women, un-democratic and intolerant. From having lived in a Muslim country before, yes there are some that live and think like that and some that dont. However what people in the West tend to be blinded to is that some people in the west think like this too. What they fail to realise also is that the word 'Muslim' is an umbrella for the different factions of Islam that is around; Shia, Kurds etc just like Christanity is an 'umbrella' for different factions. There is far too many un-educated people out there making a quick remark about a religion that they only ever hear about in the newspaper in a negative light.

unfortunately, humans have a natural fear of anything too different from what they are used to. Therefore some of the dislike is just from difference.
The news media has widely publicized the fact that the hijackers of 9/11 were all Muslims so that gave it a very negative image.
And that was enough to make many people mistrust or even hate all Muslims. People who understand that all humans are brothers do not hate Muslims.

I personally do not hate Muslims as a whole (again I must say this for the ummpteenth time)... I know some Muslims who are really righteous and decent, and to honor them I try to help stand up for them whenever I can, even as I am a faithful Catholic Christian.

I guess the number one reason nowdays why Muslims are hated, reviled and suspected is through the infinite stupidity that is the human psyche, we have essentially substituted in our minds whatever we considered Muslims then (as ordinary people) for the image of Osama and Fiends. Believe it or not, the truth is the majority of terror attacks (as in sudden and unexpected attacks on civilians as opposed to formal military operations; in case any anti-USA/Israel nuts object to this) come from Osama and Fiends who claim to fight for Islam. Thus with this and the fact that the Media keeps showing all these things, we have a negative image of Islam as a hate-spawning/suicide bombing death "cult", if you pardon my language.

Even worse, many Muslims (the righteous ones) are deathly silent whenever the Islamists commit their deeds even when it is against their fellow Muslim brothers and sisters (and in fact rejoice, as can be seen when those Palestinians rejoiced in the wake of 9/11), while they are so outspoken whenever Israel, the USA and the non-Muslim world in general try to fight back (note that I do not condone the abuses that the Yanks and Israelis have done). Naturally someone then thinks that a lot of Muslims, because of their silence in the face of Islamist terror and their loudness when we non-Muslims try to fight back, are accomplices, traitors and supporters for Osama and Fiends.

Ignorance of Islam also plays a major part, as well as other longer-standing hates...but this is what can best explain distrust of Islam and Muslims in general now by non-Muslims.

first let me say this infidel is not used in the Qur'an,it is found in the arab culture, however it is the bible.Muslims are very educated people,we are to be in constance gain of knowledge, most know the bible better than some christians,we are to belive in the revealed books,we are to speak the truth, show kindness to everyone, now most people are not educated enough to actually form an opinion on Islam, nor have they took the time to sit and have a conversation with a Muslim, they take the opinion of the media or the people around them, would it be fair for me to assume all christians are haters and terrorist because the kkk openly confess to be christans,no that would be very shallow. they feel we are a false religion.now i have been in chuch all my life ,i had a conversation the other day with a christian who said to me you worship false God and i say how do you figure that, they say because Jesus is the way. so now im asking was God false when moses prayed to him, they agree that was areal God,so then came Jesus so God cant be God anymore without Jesus,he no longer is the all mighty,he is false now because i choice to pray to the creator directly, none of this makes sense,Islam in no way promotes terrorism but the whole of Islam is judged by a handful of people who have strayed from the guidance and path of love and peace that Islam is really about, lack of knowlede and unfairness in judgment play a huge part, plus we are very different in appearence and the world is a very prejudice place

Because the muslims that we get to hear about are the negative ones the ones that go around threatening and bombing up others. And because the other muslims in the community who might be peaceful don't do enough to educate their violent brothers. Because the culture is so different such as the way the way they treat women and don't allow freedom.
Because they go to other countries and don't blend in like sikhs, they complain about this and that, and yet in their own muslim countries such complaining would not even be allowed.

Because they tell their young people rubbish like if they are suicide bombers they will get to sleep with all these virgins in muslim heaven when that really is a load of crap and they shouldn't brainwash young boys into believeing such rubbish when they have their whole life ahead of them.
Alot of it is just sick

All over the muslim countries, have you ever come across a situation that muslims have ever been sympathetic to non-muslim causes and want to resolve the issues which might involve giving some territory. No never. There is no word like "compromise" in Islam. They are openly taught to hate and spill the blood of all infidels which is essentially non-muslims.
All I want people to be careful of the Islamic fascists existing in this world ; believe me they are millions in numbers.
And you can not pretend to ignore them being liberals.Inspite of that I like any educated broad minded, liberal and modern muslim; if at all they exist; though I have not come across any.
I hate only the Islamic radicals and terrorists and all their supporters which happen to be many goverments, many charities, many organizations and many communities.
So draw your own conclusion to waht extent you need to hate the terrorists and radicalsamong the muslims. They exist in western countries too besides being 70% in most of the muslim countries.

I don't hate anyone. For those that do, well it's because of what happened on 9-11-2001. For the most part the muslims I have met have been very nice.

Hate is caused by ignorance.

Easy to resolve the negative perceptions of Islam: have compassion for those who view Islam in a negative way, realizing that it's understandable that they do. Every time a terrorist commits an act in the name of Islam, get the majority fo Muslims to actively protest and loudly denounce the act. Each time Islam is used to restrict women's rights (e.g. not letting her drive in Saudi Arabia), get other Muslims to actively and loudly protest this. Avoid all thoughts that you're being unfairly judged and, again, try to have compassion for those who see terrorists using Islam in a negative way. I know this may not be what you want to hear but if you want to have change, you have to have compassion and understanding and not think of yourself as a victim.

The misinterpretation of the Koran by Islamic fundamentalists are responsible for the mass hatred by the ignorant majority. No-one should be hated for their religion. Right-minded people hate the
acts of terrorism perpetrated in the name of Allah.
