My good friend just had bypass surgery 3 weeks ago, lost 35 pounds, but really can't keep anything down at all.

3 weeks is still pretty early.... Here's a link to foods allowed during weeks 3 and 4.

Her new stomach can only hold 2 tablespoons of food. So if she eats more than that she is gorging herself with food. Similar to a baby. She should be able to eat a tiny bit of baby food. Then eat a tiny bit of fruit. Many eat so much, that they tear open the staples which undoes the stomach stapling operation.

Her new stomach will be stretched over time.

Her surgeon and his nutritionist should be able to provide recommended dietary instructions (including when to start particular amount and consistency of fluids/ food) and alternative options for post-gastric bypass patients.

mashed potatos/gravy.....very little small amounts.
