The treatment of schizophrenia generally involves inpatient treatment, meaning they are treated in a hospital or mental health institution. Antipsychotic medications will reduce the positive symptoms of schizophrenia, such as delusions, hallucinations, and oddties of speech, and will reduce the negative symptoms to some extent such as flat affect. Home treatment for schizophrenia is basically nonexistant, and as such the best bet is to seek professional help.

Unless you are a mental health professional there's not much you can do. And if you are, you still may not be able to help of you are too close. A person suffering from Schizophrenia needs psychiatric help, medication and, during the really tough times, hospitalization. Unless they are a danger to themselves or others or under a court order, they will have to come to that decision on their own. You can offer support but before you do anything, get into a support group. You don't need to sacrifice your own well-being for your loved one. In fact, if you don't take care of yourself, you won't be able to help anyone else.
