Can anyone find any war that had nothing to do with someone gaining money. Everyone is blaming Bush that the war is about money and not weapons, and all I have to say is DUHHHH, every war has been fought for money and I want to see if anyone can prove me wrong.

Corezinc-Don't you think the churches made money from those.

TD-it's one of the most moneymaking ones, The North lost it's cotton money they say it's about slavery and whatnot but the south wanted to keep to a small farming life while the North wanted to economize it.

Shema-you said it yourself Protection and there is money to be made so it is therefore about money.

Wierdoki, look at first answer if one religion wins then the other people will convert and pay their dues.

Leela- Crusades were for Jerusalem, which was a major spiritual center, which attracted a lot of people, who bought a lot of stuff, which the got from the people that owned it...THE CHURCH

Skipper-WWII was caused with an invasion of Poland to take back their old Glory and if they controlled Poland the budget of Poland would be added to the Budget of Geremany, And WWI was started because Austria wanted control of the entire Balkan Pennisula so they could own all the TRADE in the Mediteranean

And Jorpee what you say is true but just because you and i and many other believe it doesn't mean it won't happen, because there is always that one that says it's a price to be paid for power.

Choppes, I must admit you did your homework for this one but, there is profit in every one of those, for those Islands, they still had money off it and the location can be a profit as well, I will bet you there is at least one naval base or a dock yard. Second why did Zanzibar start fighting, to hope to take over the port and use it for themselves, to make what....Money, the Zulu war, that is tough, the closest thing i can come to is You can't put a price on freedom, but freedom isn't what i was looking for, so you do win.

WWI is the closest to not being about money, it was posturing
among alliances mostly, set off by assassination.

The Civil War was definitely started over money Lincoln had investments in South that would have been hurt by secession of the South & there was still plenty of money to be made by slave trade. Money makes enemies of amny.
WWII came from unpaid money loaned to Germany & a way
to bring the US out of the depression.

Religion is often an excuse for war but rarely the real reason.

Several wars my good man.

When Argentina occupied the Falkland Islands and they went to war with the UK over them. The Falklands have a scant economy, revolving around their wool industry and some (small) royalties from the surrounding waters fisheries. However, the UK has always put more money into the islands than they have taken out. It would be the same with Argentina. Hence, a war fought over territory and pride.

The 19th century war between Zanzibar and England. Zanzibar began shelling the British fleet on their port visit. The king was upset by the British flying their flag in his port (the nerve!). England fought back and the revolt ended rather quickly. Again England poured more money into their new colony of Zanzibar than they ever extracted out of it. And of course Zanzibar made nothing...they lost their independence!

The Zulu war is another good example. The British held their lands as a colony for decades, and by all accounts, the average lifespan rose, incomes jumped up, education florished, roads were built, hospitals, schools, etc. etc. However, the Zulu people were poorly treated British subjects. So...they revolted, and after many setbacks and years of warfare were eventually granted independence. Their economy was in shambles and did not recover fully for decades afterwards. Another war fought for honor and independence, not money.

The first war ever faught. It was between homosapiens and neanderthalls, so it probably doesn't count. In fact, it was more like centuries of pickings that led them to fewer numbers and an inability to survive a solitary lifestyle while competing with us.

The only other war that I can think of would be the recent genocide between the Hutu and Tutsi tribes of what I believe was in Kenya. The next closest thing woud be Kashmir, but I'm pretty sure you'll find a pipeline or diamonds or something of monetary value.

Actually, this war is about Israel and the protection of the zionist state. Iraq is a strategic location in protecting Israel from Iran.

How much money is being poured into it, compared to what is being made from it?

Wars are NEVER about money. They are about ideology. Show ME one war that was not about someone believing they were superior to the other side.

No matter what the reason of war is, there is always one brainwashed nation led by a greedy powerful politician who wants to invade another vulnerable country or group of people. A single innocent child who die by the bullet/bomb in war is not worth the reason of whatever war. You would believe what I say when you are the child.
