Possible reason could be that the mouse isn't plugged in all the way or have come loose. Do you use a USB or a PS/2 mouse?

If USB, try disconnecting and then reconnecting after about 5 seconds.

If PS/2, shut down the computer, unplug the mouse and keyboard, and then plug them back in. Be careful to key them in right and DO NOT USE excessive force. You may have to use a little force to get them in. You'll know if you are using too much force. Also, unplug them nicely, do not yank out.

NEVER UNPLUG or PLUG IN a PS/2 connecting while the computer is on. Believe me, I am talking from experience. Not good.

Also, do you by any chance have a game controller plugged into the game port? If so, do the same thing (be sure that the system is powered down before proceeding).

Hope that helps, if not let me know and we can try some other things.

Are you using an optical mouse?

Are you using a standard mouse?

Have you cleaned the mouse ball?

Have you checked the connection? Is it loose or worn out? Have you tested your computer with another mouse?

Can you provide more information?

My best answer would be to try another mouse (borrow your friends mouse or something). If it doesn't mess up anymore then go buy a new mouse. If it still messes up then maybe reinstall the mouse driver.

Are you using a wireless mouse? Try changing the batteries and remove anything that could be affecting it (like: large speakers, mobile phones, any transmitting device).

Bring the receiver closer to the mouse.

Also, if you have an optical mouse make sure you're not using it on a shiny surface as the beam can get refracted and do odd things.

first of all simply remove ur mouse to check if its the trouble of ur mose..if it still manages to scroll up and down after the mouse is removed its not ur mouse fault..if it stops jus get a new mouse...if it still manages to go up and down its ur system probel for that first of all check by installing another intenert explorer like opera or firefox and look if it has that problem if it dont then jus simply reintsall IE7...if u dont have IE7 thats a shame its the best....
Check ur control panel mose configuration and reset all to default if theres anything alterd ok//

While it's doing it, click one time with your mouse's left button. It will stop.
