As long as you use it under vet supervision and your cat is monitored so that no damage is done to your cat's liver or kidneys

Aspirin for a cat should be given only under a vets supervision. As the other person said, childrens is generally thought to be better, but let the vet decide.
It also depends on what the problem is. If your cat is running a fever (ears & feet/ toes are hot) Amoxicillin or Clavamox is always good to have on hand. They are both cat antibiotics that come in powder form to be mixed w/ H2O. You can keep it in the frig. for several months and it's fairly cheap. As usual, ask your vet and get yourself a good cat First Aid book.
If your cat is having trouble with arthritis, glucosamine (from the drugstore) can be used. Cut the pill in quarters and give 2x a day. Again, ask your vet.

in my view, i'd not because of danger of bleeding in abdomen...and it became my former believf that aspirin even to a dogs would kill it. do not medicate cat on your received is my advice. call and ask the vet 1st yet it is what i got here across on a vet website: ------------------- Aspirin would reason delivery defects, so it really is going to not accept to pregnant animals.a million Aspirin also interacts with numerous different drugs, really cortisones, digoxin, some antibiotics, Phenobarbital, and Furosemide(Lasix®).2 Aspirin could accept with foodstuff, a million-2 situations an afternoon. examine along with your veterinarian about perfect dosing on your dogs, and no matter if this is the great drug on your dogs. There are safer, doubtlessly extra useful drugs accessible, mutually with the glucosamine/chondroitin supplementations. Cosequin is an issue-free veterinary supplement that helps with arthritis and some joint issues. Q: What about my cat and aspirin? A: similar cautions as above, yet with the further caution of time between doses. Cats can not ruin down this drug as right now as dogs (or people), and therefore, the cat could be surely overdosed with the buildup of the drug contained in the body. compared to dogs and people, cats are commonly given smaller doses at periods of 40 8-seventy 2 hours. This drug, as with all drugs, could be in ordinary words used less than advice and 'monitoring' through your veterinarian. ------------------

Aspirin should NOT be given to a cat, consult another vet. Cats can not tolerate OTC medications and aspirin can be toxic to cats. Cats have a hard time metabolizing aspirin. Aspirin toxicity may cause gastrointestinal problems, respiratory difficulties, neurological problems, bleeding disorders, and kidney failure. Aspirin toxicity can cause acute kidney failure with symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, lethargy, extreme thirst, and dilute urine. Owners may also notice that the urine is dilute (lighter in color) when the cat urinates. The symptoms of acute kidney failure are almost identical to the gastrointestinal symptoms of aspirin toxicity. Aspirin interferes with platelets, which are responsible for helping the blood to clot. Disruption of platelet function increases the amount of time it takes the blood to clot after being cut. Spontaneous bleeding may also occur causing pinpoint bruises to appear in the skin and on the gums (petechiae).
In rare cases, a vet may prescribe an enteric-coated aspirin for cats. PLEASE, double check with your vet or get a second opinion. You can also try:
Cosequin (TM): 1 regular strength capsule per cat per day
Glycoflex: 300mg/day per cat
Adequan: 1 to 2mg/lb. Dosing schedules vary widely. We use it weekly for 5
injections and then try to stretch out the interval to whatever we can
without losing its effect. Usually this is somewhere between 2 and 4 weeks.

Watch out! Giving aspirin to a cat could be very dangerous without a vet supervision.

Please people who are reading here do not give your cat aspirin because of this posting!
Vets will prescribe a small amount of aspirin for a very old cat with arthritis. That does not mean you should use it without a vet's approval and certainly never on a young cat or kitten.

Aspirin should absolutely NOT BE GIVEN to cats without direct supervision by your veterinarian. Your vet is WRONG!! Cats take 72 hours to clear aspirin from their systems, so giving it every day will poison your cat.
