I'm trying to put a song together I have the mp3 2 files that I want as the beat behind the lyrics, they were just sent to me but I want to find software that I can open the file with and fasten them up or slow them down AND merge them to make them into one tune so the backing beat has my own style not two different backing tracks playing at different time while im practicing. I know you're gonna say go to a prof. studio but I really haven't got the money or equipment, I'm still in school but saving up so when I leave I have demo's to pass around ( education comes first!) even if they are low budget, home produced and do turn out awful ( its worth a try!) but has anyone got any suggestions of any software I can use to carry out this task?

I bought a software disc from Woolworth's some time ago for around £5. It's called "Create Your Own Ringtones". This will allow you to put your own music down and change the tempo, the order of the music, the running speed, etc. It is, as the name suggests, designed for mobile ringtones, but it should do the job you want and should be worth trying at that price.

I hope it's still available and I hope it works for you.

FYI, music documents do no longer might desire to be AAC encoded with the intention to artwork on an IPOD. you need to use usual MP3 documents you acquire from loose P2P progs like Limewire. And as quickly as a record is AAC encoded it does not artwork with Window's Media participant so in case you have a computing device i might persist with the MP3 format.
