Love is relative to your experiences, maturity and the context of your life. For instance, puppy love seems all encompassing but is really a heightened form of infatuation - all stemming from pure emotion. As opposed to someone in their late 20s or 30s who might have had those experiences, but is looking for specific qualities for having a husband and father (or wife and mother) or their children. I can guarantee you the second example will not simply consider emotions in their decision(s) if they are to have a successful go at their marriage. In my case, I fall into the latter. I love my husband, but it's not the same as the person I first fell in love with, or with this or that past boyfriend - but looking back, nor would I have a marriage if I had married that first person (or the others). An ex-boyfriend of mine once said: "You will never forget the people you have loved in your life, and you will never be able to compare the love you had for each - because you loved each a different way for they each had special features!" And that is soooo true. Some were more romantic, others more "hot" and fun, others were calming and soulful. After those experiences I based my criteria on things I saw among people who were married for decades and also by my religious teachings. I felt they both had wisdom in teaching what would be a good, long term match. And also by learning to forgive - and having someone do the same!

Well Heather B. I certainly do love the person I'm with. We are both mid aged I guess and are engaged to be married next May 20. It's not the first marriage for either of us and we have dated for almost 3 years now and are very much in tune with one and others emotions and feelings.
