If a guy flirts with a girl. Then when she shows any kind of interest he backsoff. The flirts again and backsoff. Seems like doesn't even look at her at all sometimes. Could 1 possibility be he may have a girlfriend. Just curious if anyone knows if this is a sign of someone who has a girlfriend. And not that I would ever go out with someone who has a girlfriend believe me I've had this done to me. But could this mean he actually may like me and this is why he backsoff.

Can't speak for this guy, but I know I will flirt with girls for fun and just to make things interesting and exciting. i.e. at the work place, I will be coy with female co-workers for fun. Most guys just like to flirt and test the waters.

More like he's testing you. He has an ego problem. Try ignoring him for a while. I'll bet he starts coming on to you more - until you start responding again. I'd steer clear of him.
