Yes providing that you don't run into Law enforcement (CHP ,Sheriff etc...)..
Should you run into Law enforcement, your car will go to jail and by the time you get through with fines, towing fees etc....you will wish you had bought the plates.

You'd be really brave to do so. A car with no license plate sticks out like a sore thumb and EVERYONE notices. They might would even call the police on you and I'm not sure what the consequences for driving without plates would be. If the car doesn't have plates, I would take the plates off some other car someone in my family had or something and put it on the car just to go where I needed to go. And hope and pray to God I didn't get pulled over for anything because liscense plates are registered to a certain car so when they run the plates and they don't match the car...that's serious trouble too. But you're less likely to get caught if you just have some liscense plate on the car.

All states require u to have a valid tag (license plate) on your automobile. (Its a law actually)
Hmm.. not sure how some states are but, in Alabama you have 30 days to get your car registered and get an Alabama driver lic. That is of course if your planning on residing in Alabama for a long period of time. (Students, Military, and just here on business are pretty much ok) Check the link below for the California DMV or just contact the DMV nearest you and ask the clerk about getting plates and what all your gonna need. Hope this is helpful.

Only if you have a temporary sticker from the DMV.
Legally you only need a rear license plate.

sure, if you don't mind it getting impounded. In CA, all vehicles must have plates with current registration stickers on them, or they will be impounded.
