We'll make him comfortable...anyone out there in VA. Got any other suggestions??/ Pls help...

We Can't do any thing else...bone marrow ? Too late he is to sick for that....Cancer center anywhere that can go that extra mile to get him treated?

For younger patients (<60 yo), AML is typically treated with aggressive chemotherapy followed in some patients by a bone marrow transplant. With this strategy, approximately 40% of people with AML can be cured (the number is higher or lower depending on the exact type of AML). Unfortunately a number of clinical studies around the world have shown that this aggressive approach for people over 60-65 yo cures very few patients and causes many side effects and a substantial number of deaths in the first month of treatment. Because of this, many centers are not pursuing aggressive chemotherapy or bone marrow transplants in this age group. An alternative is to look around for a clinical trial involving a new drug or other approach to treating AML. Try looking at www.cancer.gov where there is both more information on AML as well as a list of current clinical trials in the US. Another useful website is www.leukemia-lymphoma.org/hm_lls.

I'm not sure if I understand your question. Are you thinking that the doctor can do more and is giving up too easy, if so, get a second opinion. If you are wondering what type of ways to make a person comfortable that is in his last stages of cancer, then I would say the doctors usually know what to do, they usually use morphine. One word of advice, if you truly care for this man, no matter what the outcome, have someone with him at the hospital day and night, it makes all the difference in the world and he deserves it.

medical marijuanna...I'm not kidding...even if it not medical get him some, if you want him to be comfortable...Chemo does horrible things to the body although it helps fight the cancer, but the marijuanna counters some of the ill side effects.
