Plz help! I always shake alot [practically my whole body], I'm shy easily intimidated by others and deep inside I know this isn't really me because 1. I wasn't raised like that and 2. I really could care less what others think of me. I hate being called up to the front of the class when the teacher wants us to do something [like write on the board] cuz I'm so nervous and shaky and everyone notices [at least I think they do] and it's so embarrasing to me and annoying. I know this is miscatigorized, but I feel that I need help spirutally to get rid of this problem. What can I do?

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM! Holy crap. Like the EXACT same one. Take baby steps and talk to an adult. I am getting better slowly. You are lucky you don't suffer from panic attacks!

Have your mom or dad take you to a doctor or a counselor. Tell the doctor or the counselor what you are telling us. Both of them can give you ideas how to reduce your anxiety. Sometimes it's just deep breathing and strategies.

There are probably other students in your class who feel the same way. Getting up in front of people, making a speech, etc. are among the greatest fears for most people. You're not alone.

I think you need to talk to someone about your anxieties. Since the school year just started and there will be many other opportunities to stand up in front of class and write on the board, etc., take advantage of this chance and seek some help. You will be glad you did.

It is an social anxiety problem that u have..im kinda like that too.. and yeah it is very bothersome especially at school when they call u up in front of everyone.... If u can't recieve help spiritually then u can get some help medically by treating ur anxiety with medications.. Although i truly wouldn't recomend taking them because some may make u become dependent on them or they will be hard to get off. But they do work.. I understand what u are going through and i'll give u a prayer to help u out...give me one too k? My college classes start tomorrow and i know its gonna b packed.

Spiritually, there are various types of meditation you could practice.
Practicing doing things in front of others a lot helps. I took singing lessons in order to get over panic attacks because I knew I had to take speech in college. You can get some friends together that have similar problems and practice in front of them,
Also, just deep breathing can help. Finally, you might want to see a doctor. I am on an anti anxiety medication. Maybe cut out a lot of caffeine, too.

A fear reaction to a specific situation can be identified as a phobia, and persons who suffer from phobias endeavor to avoid objects or situations which bring about fear reactions. It is possible that you have developed agoraphobia, the fear that keeps people at home. We seem to be hearing from more and more people who are suffering from panic attacks and great discomfort away from home. In the book "Happiness Is a Choice" by Frank Minirth, M.D. and Paul D. Meier, M.D., a number of suggestions are listed as helps to decrease anxiety:

Determine to obey God. God commands us not to be anxious (Philippians 4:5).

Pray. God promised Daniel He would answer and Daniel was not to fear (Philippians 4:6, Daniel 10:12).

Meditate on positive thoughts (Philippians 4:8). See also Psalm 34:4, 86:15; Isaiah 40:28-31; Proverbs 1:33; John 14:27.

Divert attention from self to others (Philippians 4:10, 2:3-4). As an individual gets his mind off his own problems by helping others, his anxiety also decreases.

Set a time limit on your worries. Probably ninety-eight percent of the things we are anxious about or worry about never happen. Learning to live one day at a time is an art that can be cultivated

you don't need medicine, you need confidence!

Who cares what others think right?! What is the worst that could happen...they're not gonna lock you away for the rest of your life if something bad happens. Just laugh at it. It helps if you don't try to hide it, announce it and laugh at it....trust me you feel alot better! For example, if you spit on someone when talking nobody says anything and it can be awkward and embarrassing..BUT if you go, "oh I just spit on you! I'm sorry, let me wipe it off for you!!!" It becomes funny, and you all laugh! You need to gain some confidence...pray for it, and listen to music ALL THE TIME...it really helps! Just quit caring so much and live life step by step! Besides...even if you do feel stupid/nervous...nobody cares but you. Ten minutes later while you're still thinking about what you would've done to avoid this, everyone else is thinking about other random things and have forgotten about it!!!

Good luck!

I have aversions to being in front of crowds and I'm not particularly outgoing. As a youngster, I wasn't too well off socially and had intense fear of meeting new people. A combination of anti-depressant, anti-anxiety meds, counseling and forcing myself to face life has been a great help. This very well may be an issue that you may need to see a doctor and get counseling for.

Spirituality is a great and powerful thing but it is a slow process and a personal one. You need to see a professional that has been trained to help people identify and correct anxiety issues. Most spiritual counselors are there to help you understand the religion they belong to not diagnose something that may be a medical issue.

If you are a Christian, (because you put it under needing spiritual help) then recognize that it isn't you who needs to be strong, but let Jesus be strong in you, for you. Pray for the strength and courage to do what you need to do, and God will grant it. Focus on doing your best work, and when you are called to the front of class, remember tha Jesus is standing there with you, by you, and he cares about everything that is a concern to you. Picture his hand guiding yours and holding it steady. Hope that helps!

You probably suffer from some sort of anxiety problem. I'd advise finding a psychiatrist who could help you find out what your problem is and suggesting treatment. But if you're looking for a spiritual answer I'd say that speaking to your deacon/pastor/rabbi/etc. would probably be a good place to start.

I'm going to suggest a couple of books that might be of help to you, I know they were for me. I also grew up feeling like I never wanted to be singled out for anything, but no longer feel that way.

The Power of Intention -- Dr. Wayne Dyer
Ask and It Will Be Given -- Esther and Jerry Hicks
Conversations with God -- Neale Donald Walsch
