What does your belief system have to do with being comfortable or knowing what is going on. I'm a career USAF person myself and I can tell you that if you keep your eyes & ears open and only open your mouth when absolutely necessary, and then only after thinking over carefully what you are going to say, you should do OK. The key to being "in the loop" involves on the one hand paying attention and on the other being a hustler.

Are you assuming everyone in the military is one religion. You don't have to say hey my name is _____, and I am a gnostic. Right? Your personality is what gets you in the loop.

Why would a gnostic have a problem in the service? The military is the epitome of the perfect society. There are no religions, races, or sex. They are all Soldiers, Marines, Airman, and Sailors. Everything else is 2nd.

i'm not sure what you mean by be in the loop, the basic creed of any military is honoring country and god, but their is no requirement to believe in god. there are many types of beliefs in the military, from atheist to muslim to jewish to christian, as many beliefs as there are nationalities.
