Depends on the training. If you are new and are going through your job training than yes you probably will get holidays off. Most of the time you get 2 week periods. As for the rest of the time, we get vacations when we can take time.

All through my Naval career I've pretty much gotten most holidays off. Unless my duty day fell on that day. But some holidays they'll make up for it. Like giving the duty section the next day off or something like that. Christmas time they always shifted the duty sections around so that half the crew could take leave part of the time, like over Christmas, and the other half would be able to take leave over another period, like New Years. Something like that.
But if your out to sea... Your out to sea. Bout the only thing they do then is NOT have drills on that day, and maybe have a special meal and a movie. Small price to pay for the freedoms we all take for granted I think.

In the Marine Corps, we usually got a 96 hour pass during holidays. Those passes could have been recalled at any time. It should be the same for the Navy. There is no vacation in the military. it is either a pass or you go on leave. Either of these can be revoked and you are given a certain time to report back to your duty station.

Yes we got holidays off usually just one day. If you want more you would apply for leave. A-schools are like college 4 beds to a room no one ripping you a new butt hole. Liberty every day unless you are on duty that day. We went to school at 0800and got out at 1600 and then we were free to go.

Unless your Duty day falls on a Holiday you have it off if you have the duty your stuck

most A schools have Holiday standown/Christmas Exodous, but be prepared to eat up leave(that you may or may not have earned) and to pay for any plane tickets back home yourself.
