Ok, I need someone who was alive in the 70's or 80's to confirm this! I know I'm not crazy... PLEASE tell me you remember when Taco Bell used to wrap their tacos in that plain orange paper, and the cheese was very finely shredded and the taco sauces only came in 1 flavor- HOT and were not in "packet" but in little dip cups??? Didn't the flavor of the meat taste different, A LOT BETTER than it does currently? I just remember walking into a Taco Bell, back in the day and the aroma itself was just wonderful and the tacos were 100 times better than they are now. I believe they changed the recipe around the early 90's, but no one seems to remember what it tasted like before!

I was at the Corporate Role-out of the NEW recipes for the corporation approx. 8 years ago when I worked in the TV business. I was hired by my company for Taco Bell to do the Satellite uplink to do the teleconference to announce the NEW recipes etc... to the different taco bell meeting locations around the country.

If I remember correctly. The cheese was to be made Larger and more "homemade-shredded" like, They did mention the beef and I think I remember the tortillas being mentioned as well as the lettuce.

If THIS response DOESN'T get the best vote...I don't know what will! lol

I remember being excited when they announced it at the teleconference but being disappointed as well when it came out. I TOO liked the OLD recipes.

I don't remember it. I think I protested (along with my sister) Taco Bell when we first got one where I lived. There was a place in the very early 80s (it may have even been earlier) called Zantigo.
It was so good and then Taco Bell took over and Zantigo closed and was changed to Taco Bell which I didn't think tasted as good.

I eventually got over it and started eating Taco Bell. They have been changing it over the years though.

I'm not sure about the recipe, but I do know that Pizza Hut is tied in with KFC and Taco Bell. Perhaps the early 90s was when the two merged? I'm not sure, but I do know that Taco Bell tacos, though mildly satisfying, are kind of gross when you really look at the mush called 'meat' and think about what you're eating.

This is too funny. My partner fetched us some Taco Bell a few nights ago, I hadn't had any in years. Let me tell you I took one bite off of the end of a bean burrito and almost got the tummy upsets..grrrrross. The cheese looked thick and formed like someone squeezed it out of a play dough press, the seasoning was pure barfie-barf. We tried to feed it to Nico, our Shepherd but even she wouldn't brave it. It didn't even make for delectable doggie dinner-fare. I agree with ya big time. Taco Bell, meet our demands for quality faux Mexican food or else!!!

I just had Taco Bell for dinner tonight, and was thinking the same thing... The meat almost seems mushier than it used to be, and I think the seasoning has changed a lot too. Probably a money-saver.

We nonetheless do no longer take blood transfusions using fact in Jehovah's eyes blood is priceless so he commaned us to "save abstaining from blood" (Acts 15:29) think of of it as while you're eating the blood, once you're interior the well being facility and you won't have the skill to consume with your mouth what do they do? They put in an IV stunning? So if blood is put in an IV after surgical operation it somewhat is such as you're eating it. And over the final 15 years there have been many adjustments(the ipod ingredient became hilarious ha ha I easily have one so apparently they are not evil)

It does seem like it got worse. I heard they now use the lowest grade beef allowed. They probually had to cut cost when they went with the value prices. When they were smaller they most likely worrried about quality ;now it seems they are more concerned with quantiy sold. Also, your taste buds change as you get older and you develope a desire for really good quality food.
