I know this sounds like a crazy question but let me tell you the USPS is not helpful. Was wondering if anyone else shipped something to a base and it took forever to get there? I'm in CA and the package is going to MS. I shipped it Priority/Airmail Insured. Post office says I have to wait 21 days to put in an inquiry. Thanks for any help, I was trying to send him a piece of home but the darn postal service is not cooperating. Thanks!!!! (Didn't know what other category to put this in)

It takes things longer to go through the mail at the bases. I had a friend who worked in the base post office at one of the places her husband was and she said it took longer for priority stuff to get through b/c it was priority to be put on the plane, truck, etc. and made it the last stuff off. Just insure it next time and send it regular mail. Also you can get a delivery confirmation for a small fee.

USPS is very slow. It's even worse when it comes to the military. You'll have to wait the full 21 days to find out for sure. Putting the exact military address on there is of major importance. Full name and rank also helps. Years ago, we even put the Social on there, but there's too much fraud for that now. Anyways, the military won't look around for the proper unit if the address is incorrect by just a little bit. You'll eventually get it back if that's the case. Just stick it out and see what happens. After 21 days, go submit your inquiry.

Good luck!!

Usually when you are sending to an APO or a military base it does take forever for stuff to get there. CA to MS shouldn't take too long - i emailed something on Ebay from MS to CA and it got there in two days - priority. Do you have a tracking number? You can look it up on usps.com - give it a little more time though - something happens with APOs / bases for some reason. Good luck :)

i seggest you wait these 21 days, and if it doesn't work out than you should go to one of their offices, i mean, it sounds like an important package. there should be a garentee they give, best of luck. you also want to keep in mind that its a long way to travel, and some packages get lost. hoping for the best, congrats on finding your guy. Good Luck

It might take longer for him to recieve it. You should wait for exactly a month and day to see what happens then go back to the post office and ask if the package was delivered.

yeah it takes a long time especially for packages...they open and inspect them all on the on post post office in these terrorist times they have to be very careful to protect our soldiers...also make sure you didn't send anything on the forbidden list during basic and advanced training as they will confiscate it. i have hear of some 'antiwar' nut jobs sending dead rats, letters bashing bush, calling soldiers murderers, rotten tomatoes etc. to bases to harass them so they have to deal with a lot....be patient, there could be several reasons he didn't get it.
