Probably for the same reasons many women LOVE being JERKS to guys.

Because a lot of the time they where treated bad by women and in there mind they tend to think what goes around comes around but not soon enough, so the have a mind set that women treat them like crap so they can do the same, but some times they are just born jerks kind of a genetic thing like being born colour blind. Please keep in mind that I've been known to be wrong in the past so i might be wrong now so if this helps then bonus.

Sounds like you aren't meeting the right guys. Not all males love being jerks to women. A lot of guys like to treat women with respect and compassion.

Negative attention is attention. It is different to flirt - another thing to be a true jerk.
Men that do this jerky stuff are usually trouble. They will do things to get attention all through a relationship.... fight to make up? name calling? real mature stuff. I think that unless you have a low self esteem and want to prove people wrong when they call you stupid....this is a game you cannot win.
