This guy flirts and looks at me sometimes, but sometimes acts distant. But when I try to make any kind of small talk he acts distant. But then he'll flirt with me. So if he doesn't want me to like him. Why keep going back and forth. I mean when he flirts it's ok. But then when I try to converse about something he acts odd. Yet he converses with some others easily. This really hurts my feelings and makes me feel uncomfortable around him. It's like if he's afraid I might like him then just backoff completely. Do you think he finds me unattractive? And this is why he backsoff. I mean one day he stared at me straigh in the eyes for like 5 seconds after handing me something. Then later when he came over he was talking to someone and he looked my way and smiled and when I started smiling at him. My gaze lasted a few seconds he seemed to then look down. and seemed as if he wanted to get away. Why does he act so oddly?

I mean I want so bad to be his friend. Even if nothing else comes about. But it's so hard because he acts like this!!! What can I do?

I don't know whats up with the mixed signals. On one hand it seems he could be shy...but on the other hand it seems like he wants to just keep you guessing. I would just play it cool and do not try to flirt with him. Act bored when he tries to flirt with you. If he is playing a game, he will soon get bored. If he really is interested and cares about your feelings, he will try to talk to you about it. Maybe its just you that makes him feel shy. Do nothing. Just sit back and observe. His actions will tell you what you need to know.

Hes insecure and probably feels safer flirting since theres no commitment in that. Just act casual and let him make the approaches

Sounds like he's gay but won't admit it to himself or wishes he wasn't gay. Don't feel hurt by strange-boy. Oh, wait, how old are you? If you're about 13 then this is normal. He may like you for real. But if you're both over than 16 or 17 foggetaboutit.

Some guys flirt to flirt....and then when engaged in actual conversation have nothing meaningful to add. Sometimes when they flirt they get a reaction that they didn't want....like someone actually showing interest in them.

Honey, he's just backwards and nervious and a little scared. Don't approach him, let him come to you. When he smiles, smile back. If he starrs, starr back with a smile. He's trying to work up courage to approach you. let him do it in his time and in his way. He like you honey, give him time and space to move at his own speed
