Maybe instead of getting it made straight you could try to encourage her to take pride in her hair, it may be that your daughter is feeling the first pangs of Western beauty standards and so it may be a good opportunity to encourage her to find beauty in her own looks as [what I assume is..] black girl. It will help to try to save your money if nothing else, at best you're going to be looking at a healthy young lady.

She is only 10 years old. I would focus more on helping her see how beautiful her hair is just the way God made it. Let your daugther know that her hair is just as wonderful in it's natural kinky state as it would be straight. If she still wants it straight, I would definetly wait until she is at least 12 before letting her get a relaxer & if you do go that route, get it done professionally.
As for heat straightening, you've already been given some really good advice on that. Just make sure you keep her hair conditioned & moisturized. I would probably blow it out first then use either a flat iron or a pressing comb to get it really straight.
Hope things work out for you guys.

Okay no disrespect to any of the previous answers but they are wrong. Most of the replys you received are most likely not from African American People. I am one black woman that has a nice grade of hair but its extremely thick and unruly sometimes and i' switch hairstyles every week. If you daughter's hair is kinky and you dont want to relax it this is what you do. There are only three effective options:
One: search for the product called pressing comb in a jar at beauty supply stores, but remember you have to go to one that carries african american products.
Second: wash her hair with Motions shampoo then apply motions conditioner and leave in hair for at least 30 minutes. Rinse then apply Motions shine pomade (its golden) and blow dry her hair. After that seperate her hair in four sections. Take that same ceramic iron make sure it goes up to atleast 300 degrees. take small sections of her hair and pull the iron from the roots to the ends. If you use ANY ceramic iron the right way it will work...no problems.
Third: use the same products above except replacing the ceramic iron with a pressing comb. They have electric pressings combs that you can plug in the wall and use but be careful...with any pressing comb because you can burn yourself..or your child. Use hair grease on the scalp and spray oil sheen all over the head before and after pressing. not too much because it will make the hair limp and flat.
Be sure to keep her hair moisturized in between straightnings and clip the dead hair off the ends. It wont be hard to spot itll look weak, thin, and split.
note: if she wants a cute pony tail one day try using elasta QP Glaze to hold down the edges of her hair.

RE:
How do I get my daughters Afro Kinky hair straight without relaxing it?
My 10 year old daughter wants to have her hair straight but I can't afford to pay $65 a week to keep it straight by pressing it. I have tried to find information on learning how to press it myself but I can't see to find a school. I have bought 5 differant ceramic flat irons non of them...

Basically try a ceramic flat iron. I use that when I was natural. Also look for shampoos and conditioners heavy with moisturizers (Silk Elements line). To prevent reversion, use an alcohol based hair spray. Yes it will dry out the hell out of her hair, but it works. Use that while flat ironing. What helps is to blow dry the hair completely then flat iron. Use Redken Heat Glide or Silk Elements thermal styler (sold at Sally's Beauty Supply).

Well, 50% my class is black girls, you can put your hair in many ways that are nice. They hair can be really afro but the next day they have it straight with a little gel and heat. And you can wash it more often to protect ur head of dead cells.

first of all,the first answerer is so damn STUPID and the answer to your question i think is to get yourself a ceramic straightener,a good one,i didnt get my hair permed or anything until i was 13,shes only ten and shes botherin you about all these stuff, she should at least take some pride in her hair and wait a little bit like 3more years when shes 13 or 12 but if thats what you want to get for her,its a great idea and you should try garnier fructis sleek and shine(shampoo and conditioner),works great for me!good luck...

It's all merely a matter of personal preference. I actually have short hair and guys just like it. And i prefer a guy with short hair over a guy with long hair because long hair tends to make guys look also girly.
