you can save a lot of money doing most every thing your self I did the whole wedding was 300 dollars that was groom suit he bought my dress i bought I made are own cake went to the store bought punch nuts and candy (M&M) cheap and coffee and used our coffee maker and my own punch bowl we only invited 20 ppl only close friends and relatives and that was it we paid my moms pastor to come to the house and got married in the back yard It was beautiful I would send you photos if you want see them and I want to get married at a beach at sunset well we could not afford like the ocean so it was and the lake behind our house it was beautiful it can be done if you can dream it you can do it I also did all the wedding flowers and I had a friend who is a photographer take the photos and she did it as our wedding gift well then she also gave us a set of dishes and a TV so it was a very very pretty but very very cheap wedding and the best I have ever seen and you know how most weddings have something go wrong nothing had bad to us I did feel sorry for my little girls friend who came my girl is 12 and so is her friend but she got bite by a dog and then my daughter slammed her hand in to the door it was so sad for that little girl but she still insisted on staying CZ she is like a second daughter to me wow what a trooper any way every thing Else went right the whole day!!!
The punch was white grape juice and Vernor's it looks like champagne and it is bubblie and fun it was really cool I also made a fruit salad out of 2 kiwis quart of blue berries and a can of pineapples drained and one watermelon made into little balls it was Delishous oh I put it all in the frig for one hour Pryor to reception and it was great ever one loved it!

There are many ways to find ideas to have a beautiful but reasonably priced wedding. You can go to www.Brides.com, or www.theknot.com, or www.modernbride.com. There are soooo many different sites. I used all of these and several others. I also checked out different local vendors like The Paper Factory. I also went to Barnes & Noble as well as Waldenbooks and bought a couple wedding planners as well as several wedding/bridal magazines. Once you get an idea of what kind of wedding you want (traditional vs theme, formal vs informal, etc.,) then you can go from there. We had a theme wedding with medieval, Lord of the Rings with some Happily Ever After in there. With all the research I did we were able to stay within out budget and had a really beautiful and personal wedding that everyone enjoyed and is still talking about even a month later! The best of luck to you!

I'm glad you don't want to spend a fortune on your wedding. Your marriage will get off to a good start if you spend only what you feel you can afford.
We had a small church wedding, and had the wedding reception in the church hall, which was very inexpensive. We did the decorations ourselves, and had simple refreshments, not a fancy dinner. I bought my dress at a department store and my husband and groomsmen rented their jackets. The flowers were arranged by a friend. We had our photos taken by a friend, and they were disappointing; f you have a friend do your photos, be sure they can do good quality work for you.
We've been married for 36 years so far, so I guess that simple wedding "took" just fine!

Instead of a meal, have a wonderful hors d'oeurve (sp?!) reception with crostini, fruit cabobs, brie platters, ciabatta with dipping sauce etc. It's much less expensive than a meal, and not hard to put together if you want to hire friends to do it for you. Mine was a hit, and people still talk about how amazing the food was!

to give you an idea i did my wedding planning myself i bought the decorations at party city, went to sams club to buy the food, had family chip in to cook, we had chicken wings, potato salad, veg, salad and bread. i had the wedding and reception in a hall that charged me one flat price for the whole 24 hours to set up, party, and clean up my family helped with that too i also went to michaels crafts and made my own bouquets and boutineers if you have time to go to a class at michaels check it out plus i made my own sheet cake i bought the materials at michaels as well all together including my dress i probally paid about 3000 which i got alot of that back with my wedding gifts good luck
