Because everyone knows French is the ugliest language. It sounds like vomit. You're just picking on the Vietnamese.

Since the Vietnamese aren't a different race from any other people, it could hardly be called racist. But I can certainly understand why someone might get upset if you suggest that the language in which they whisper sweet nothings to their lovers, and teach their children, and praise their heroes and damn their enemies is "ugly."
Perhaps if you learned something about the way in which vowel sounds are used in those languages, they'd sound more beautiful to your ear. Because it is indeed your ear that has the problem.
But I don't think "anyone familiar with the Asian languages" is necessarily in a position to determine what the worst languages *you* have ever heard are, or to care.

I think this isn't racism and you are entitled to your own opinion. I mean, its your ears and your ears just so happens to not like the sound of these languages. Perhaps the reason you're deemed to be racist is because of the way you tell people your dislike of these languages. I mean, if you were to tell it to them in the way you wrote it out, "Damn, Cantonese is one helluva ugly language", then people might take offence in that. You should tone it down a little bit because you're only giving a pretty mild opinion with regards to a certain race. Your opinion is nothing deragotary, just mild stuff. You gotta make sure the way you say it portrays that its simply a mild opinion of yours and that its truly nothing insulting towards that specific race.
I'm familiar with Asian languages.. I personally think Vietnamese and Cantonese are, well, mild lol when compared to other Asian languages such as perhaps Bahasa Indonesia? I speak it too at times and I think the accent that comes with the language is a little too coarse for me.

Ok.. I am familiar with asian languages, because I'm asian, I do not agree with you that the vietnamese language are among the worst languages. In fact, Vietnam was part of China once a pon a time, and thats where the language came from. How do you call a language "ugly". You ARE racist you ******. If you have time on your hands, to go around and talk about some other race and talk bad about anything of it, then yes, you are racist.

each language isn't uncomplicated and uncomplicated, alluring and unpleasant. i'm Vietnamese and that i admire the language. It s very deep I meaning and uncomplicated to verify. Like Spanish, you do no longer might desire to memorize it such as you do with English. as long as you will pay attention properly, you are able to write properly. No it s no longer racist to assert a language is grotesque. It basically famous your loss of understanding of linguistics or you haven't any appreciation of God s creation of variety. That s all.

I don't think you're racist for not liking a language, but I do think it's very narrow minded. I don't understand how a language can be "ugly". I'm guessing you don't like them because they are unfamiliar to you and don't sound to you like a language "should" sound. Calling them ugly is something you'd expect from some backwater hick who's never spoken anything but (hillbilly) English and that's probably why people think you are racist for saying so.

About racism: Its because nowadays people are sensitive about race/nationality so their thoughts and actions can be easily controlled by national governments. Hundreds of years ago, people didn't care about what nation they came from, they were loyal to their village. Countries use nationalism as a tool to control their people, primarily to quell dissent internally, "wave the flag" against "national traitors". Its very dangerous practice...Imperial Japan and Germany are past examples with drastic outcomes. Communist China is one of many nations that actively spreads hate today...so people from those nations involved are more prone to be extremely sensitive or make racist/discriminatory comments.
(As opposed to nations which teach the dangers of racial discrimination and have freedom of speech and an outlet for dissent).
Regarding language: Cantonese and Vietnamese, they are tonal languages that have many tones and nasal sounds, far more tones and more complex sounds than Mandarin. Your brain mistakes tone sounds for emotions (anger, sadness, etc) and nasal and gutteral sounds (for choking, humming, etc), and they tend to go from loud to soft, and have many sharp sounds, which can be mistaken for anger emotions as well, as opposed to Thai (also tonal), which has soft longer sounds. So your brain can't comprehend it, the brain keeps trying, your brains neurons fire like crazy, and so you get annoyed. It happens to differing degree with all languages we don't understand, but i suppose when confused with anger and "bad emotions" we characterize it as "bad". Those who understand are not annoyed because their brain doesnt get confused.

Nothing is racist about that. It's just a personal feeling/opinion. No different than thinking a certain music type or artist is better than another. Or if you like a certain food, etc.

I'm not Asian but why do you have to even comment that Asiatic languages are ugly... To be honest with you, I think you should think of more constructive things to say on here.
