yes, to be completely frank most animals have the ability to sense things often humans as well. though most people think thats ridiculous and a lie but on the contrary it isnt. dogs do have the ability to sense spirits as well as ghosts and other presences. (little children have been known to be able to do this as well)...to provide some evidence to prove a dogs 6th sense, look up dog's and seizures or ailments in humans. there have been a few amazing stories of a dog saving a person's life because they know the person is either in trouble or is for ex. going to have a seizure. also there's the fact that (most anmials) dogs included can tell when there will be a storm or earthquake, etc... hope that helps :)

Well if your dog is outside all the time then the dog is sweating. Although dogs don't sweat like us they still do in a since. So your dogs coat is getting grimy. If your dog is outside a lot then I would suggest you wash him more often.
Yes you can blow-dry your dog but make sure that it is on a low level and that you don't hold the dryer to close to the dog.
Wire dog brushes work well. But this all depends on what type of dog you have, and how thick it's coat is.

I personally do not like any of the Hartz products. Go to a pet store and get a better shampoo.
The fat levels in their diet have an effect on the shine of the coat. Read the label on your dog food. Mine is a little high, but reads 20% fat. Mine have the shinest coats around.

Good diet is also the key to a healthy coat. Brush him often, and use a good shampoo that is meant for dogs. You say he's tied up? If you keep your dog outside, don't count on him having a pretty coat especially considering he is a dachshund. If you don't, sorry for me jumping to conclusions.

My mom has an australian shepard with long hair and she puts flax seed oil in his dinner. he is so shinny. Oil in the dogs skin makes his coat shinny. Some dogs just have BO and you could wash them all the time and it doesnt work. I dont know if they have a type of deoderant soap you could use. You might ask the vet to see if they can recommend anything.

meh, just dont bother blow drying, or with any soaps. The BEST thing for dogs coats is woolite detergent. Its non toxic, doesnt cause irritation, smells great for a long time, and leaves their coats sooooo glossy and soft.
Try it once, i promise you'll never use anything else again.

Coconut Oil, you can get it in the hair care aisle near the products for ethnic hair. It is all natural, smells great, and is good for the coat.
Put one or two drops in your hands, rub your hands together, and then rub your hands through your dog's coat.

i'm not a groomer so i cant help with the shampoo but the dull coat is affected by the food. we use science diet it costs more but the coat is great and the shedding is cut way down the other plus is the poopies r much smaller due to less filler in the food. i do know that groomers pay about $500. for their blowdryers it gets all the dead hair out. make sure you rinse every bit of the shampoo out too, that helps.
