A wine with zero sugar content is very rare. Even a wine that tastes completely dry will usually have 1-2% residual sugar. The only way to be certain is to check the wine makers fact sheets for that particular wine and look for RS = 0 (RS being residual sugar)

WInemakers try to mak egood tasting wine, and a little RS gives body to the wine and counteracts high acidity. The wine can taste bone dry in the mouth, but still have RS.

But why worry - alcohol is just as much a source of calories as sugar is.

Oh my that answer about negative numbers is quite amusing. Think about that one logically, it's a contradiction in terms. You either have sugar or you don't, there is no anti-sugar in a parallel universe! LMAO

Fermenting a wine to complete "dryness" is the definition of zero sugars. Sometimes when a higher alcohol level is wanted, or residual sweetness, winemakers will actually ADD sugar (that wasn't present in the grapes) because they ran out of naturally-occuring sugars during the fermentation.

There is no labelling of carb content on most wines, so it will be difficult to know if a given wine is at 0 without talking to the winemaker, but most dry wines in general are very low in sugars relative to other beverages. And red wines in general are dry unless it's something like a dessert version of grenache or similar.

It is the sugars in the wine that help feed the fermentation process and turn into alcohol .
You can buy the alcohol free which is low in alcohol content, but you will not be able to get away from the natural sugars.

I think you mean with a sugar rating of "0"? You can get extremely dry wines rating in the negative numbers as well.

Two nice ones:

Mogan Jaffelin Beaujolais
Calvet Reserve Red Bourdeaux

NEGATIVE RATING DOES NOT IMPLY NO SUGAR YOU IDIOTS.
