depends on where you want the waves. waves in water, instantaneous. waves in a friendship, easy if you tick off the other person. waves in hair, depends on how you're trying to get them. curlers works but the waves wash out, perm works but damages your hair. curling iron works but will wash out also. not any real easy to get waves of any kind.

it should take but over night if you put hair grease for waves on your hair and put a du-rag on. And then in the morning brush it.
