To repent means to have a change of mind and to have a change of heart. So it isn't just saying certain "magical words" before your death. The Bible teaches that God truly knows us inside/out (he knows our hearts!) And so God would know the sincerity of our hearts if we were to make such a declaration. Also, if this person had opportunity after opportunity to place his faith in Jesus- it's highly unlikely that he would all of a sudden turn sincere after a lifetime of "sinful and wicked living". To repent means that we agree with God, that our actions are wicked and evil, and that we desire to live by God's ways above our own ways.

It's like the Catholics who wear the scabbards that say whoever is found wearing this will not burn in the eternal fire. And a scabbard has no power, it is a sincerity of heart in trusting God. So words have no meaning if they have no sincerity and credibility behind them. Romans 10:10 says that with our mouth we confess, but it is with our heart that we believe (so confession without belief is not true confession (trust and repentance). And God is not fooled...

Hope that helps,

Nickster

I think it would actually require more than that. Can you get Baptized before you hit the ground? I do believe that plays a key role in getting into Heaven. Will there be time for Jesus to know who you are? To walk with you...or I guess in this situation...fall with you? It takes more than just asking for forgiveness because you know you "got caught"!!

As long as your act of contrition was done with sincerity, yes one can go to heaven. However, it is for God to decide whether ones heart is truly genuine or merely motivated by fear. Many times people premeditate an easy way to salvation by presuming that they can be wayward and Godless all their life, and then just prior to ones death ask for forgiveness and expect the same treatment as those who have always been faithful and repentant.

This assumption is childish, and makes a mockery of faith. It also, in a juvenile fashion, underestimates God, who by definition is omniscient, and therefore knows your intent.

properly, do no longer you think of that it is fairly presumptuous and boastful which you would be based upon God's great Mercy? it is surely a sin against the Holy Spirit. you're presuming which you will stay to a ripe previous age, what in case you have been in a motor vehicle twist of destiny, murdered, struck by utilising lightening, had a heart attack? the place is your 'time' to your deathbed confession? you do no longer. you would be judged as a result; and in case you state which you stay this sinful existence...devoid of possibility for confession, contrition; the place will you stand? As for making a great donation to the Church...it is going to be favourite by utilising those right here, yet will God delight in it if it is given in concern and not love, humility, contrition? Subjectively I say no, yet it is in simple terms subjectively; i'm no longer God. Many reward to you. i will desire for you sweetheart. God bless!

This really is God's call folks and after all there are issues behind every persons upbringing that we cannot know of. ONLY God can see those things and decide who is saved/lost.

But, here, I suspect the person is lost. They have lived a selfish life in direct opposition to God's teachings. They are about to die and have nothing left to offer in service. It is a very thin thread they are hanging by. So now, in their last few moments of life they commit one more act of selfishness. "God please forgive me. " They may have waited too long.
I' m actually relieved that I find nothing in the bible that will involve me in the decision making process. I would not want so great a responsibility for so difficult a choice.

That's why it is important to decide now!!!!!!!

well to repent means a change of mind. It would be hard to actually have a change of mind while you were shooting towards the Earth and your ultimate demise. I am sure you would have thoughts of terror and not really be able to contemplate your sinful life. It is something better done on solid ground.

Yes, but it would be better if you checked your parachute before you went skydiving and still repented. Then used your skydiving skills to bring others away from sin and wickedness. Ideally.

Yes, if you Believe In Jesus and Believe that God raised him from the Dead.

Of course, if this is what you are thinking about before you hit the ground.
