Especially if you are over stroking him.

Could be a sign of a bad tooth though, so try have a look to see if his gums are reddish or inflamed,around the back ones. As long as he is eating ok though, it probably isn't a tooth. He just gets engrossed and relaxed in the fussing.

Mine does it & occasionally shakes his head, spraying me with it!

It is quite normal, nothing to worry about. But if the cat drools for no apparent reason and the saliva is discoloured, then the cat could have dental problems that should be checked out by a vet.

Oh, very much so. It seems to be a personal thing for the cat - the more they purr, the more they dribble, in my experience, at any rate. The worst thing is when they sneeze whilst dribbling - the splatter range is enormous!

Both of my cats drool when I pet them. Not so bad until one is sitting on you drooling all over your hand. :)

Mine does. Sits with his mouth open as he purrs. Then drips saliva.
