A big part of life is learning to manage resources. This forum is a resource for knowledge.
Now the catch is, that if they don't do the homework on their own and just get the answers, are they really learning? Will they be able to reproduce the work on an exam? Those that do not will soon learn that though this may seem to be a quick and easy way to do their homework, it leads to failure if they don't try and understand the subject and question after they have the answers.

It's not that simple it's hard to sort through pages on the internet especially with math, and if you don't know how to sollve the problem you don't know. You need to be taught a technique to figure it out. Now I'm in Geometry and my parents can't help me because they didn't even make it to high school. They are VERY old and not from this country. I mostly asks my friends for help, but all my frinds are in Algebra, not Geometry. Sometimes it's hard and although I don't use Yahoo! answers I understand why some people do.

I agree and disagree
I agree that kids should not go to YA for the first stop. A parent should be around in the ideal situation....unfortunately, recent trends show that our parents generation has departed us quickly. We are now under a new system where both parents are working and often times are just not around!! As sad as this is...I think it is more important for a child to realize the resources they have around them. Times are changing as is technology, Children are apart of a e generation, the Internet is a tool that they are much more familiar with than we could ever be.

I completely disagree with you on this one. If a child isn't able to recieve help from a parent at home--the responsible thing to do is find another way to get help, and if that means yahoo answers, why shouldn't they? Once kids reach highschool it can be hard for the parents to keep up with them-but there are people on yahoo answers who are willing to help, and really know what they are talking about. Just help the kids!

i agree with you parents need to step up to the plate and raise there kids.....that inclued homework help. but i am a mother and i know how hard it is and can be to raise a family. you cant alway be there every wakeing moment to help with homework or babysit them to make sure they do it. i erge yahoo people not to flat out give these kids the answers make them figure it out! but i think its wonderful that these kids have this place to get help right from there own home. yea when i was in school i wasnt the best student and im sure if i had yahoo answers back then i might have been a better student "free answers" please people help them but dont give them the answer! there not going to learn it on there own if you flat out tell them!

I don't fully agree with you. If the kid is older, both parents might work nights or not be home when they are doing homework. Or the parents might not have gotten that far in school (especially in math), so they couldn't help the child. My opinion is we should help them, but not do the problem and give the answer. Just tell them how to do it.

I would rather they ask a legitimate question about homework help than add to the other meaningless things that are being asked and said on this site. And hopefully most of their help is in English class because there are ALOT of horrible writers asking and answering questions.

Chances are their parents have no idea they are doing this. Most of them can't even turn on their kids computer. But, really, is it any different than going to the library or pulling out the Encyclopedia to do homework?

I don't agree at all....If I had a resource like Y/A when I was a kid I would have loved it....I think anywhere a student can get an answer to a question is a great idea.

I agree. But first, we understand that in today's sociaty both parents work leaving the child without an adult supervision. This is why we have some kids in drugs, having sex, or getting in trouble.
