why does it seem more exceptable for women to date men older than themselves but not younger?

it just seems more exceptable that for example, a women in her early 20s dates an older guy in his late 20s early 30s than if she dates a guy younger than herself in his late teens...why is this? does age difference really matter, surly it depends on the person?

I am married to a guy 14 years younger than me, my family-his family, my friends are fine, but I have some nasty comments and a few females younger ones equally as rude as many guys.. should not make any difference, as long as we are all well above the legal age of consent..

True it depends on the person. So men never grow up and some teenagers are already men.

But it is a fact that on average females mature faster than males, dating a younger guy is less common cause often its assumed that the woman is taking advantage and often the woman feels she is.

Also, in the olden days women have to make decision carefully from an early age. If you want to be a mother, you have to makes sure spouse is suitable and children can be taken care of e.t.c and that you are fit and healthy enough to be doing all that child-rearing. You also have to sort all that out before menopause. Men on the other hand can fertilize a sperm anytime of their life they don't have time limits so they can do that latter.

Though some of the rules still apply, nowadays older men have more life experience and can offer more financial and physical security so most women do still go along that route.

Its to do with socail attitudes if the magority look down on someone's life style then they all have then same moral values as the odler generation. The world never thought women could work let alone have a sex drive. Then along came the pill and other contriception yey you'd think, no some guys get flack for dating younger women. Gold digger ever heard of that phrase? Social attiutudes would have to change but if the couple love each toher enough and they are over 16 and it's legal who are we to judge.

Yes it does depend on the person a great deal, but the reason and general rule is that girls supposedly mature faster (mentally)than guys their same age- so usually ( and this is true in a lot of cases) a 20y/o girl can hang with a 20-25 maybe27 y/o guy. while on the othe hand- a 20 y/o guy is sometimes no match for a 25-27 y/o ladies mental maturity

Its a throwback to the days when women depended on men for everything. If a woman didnt get a man to keep her in marriage or hadnt got a brother to keep her, she had to go to the workhouse. So, the men had the pick of the women! Today, its changing slowly and eventually people of any age will go out with people of any age. It is no longer determined by economics. Great!

My wife is four years older than I am. It's not an issue. Girls like to date older guys, as they have stopped pi**ing drink up against the wall, got themselves a house and a car, apply themselves at work, and are getting on with making something of themselves.

I understand where your coming from here, but i think it depends on each case. Personally i'm not into older men at all but if i wanted to see someone younger than me i would regardless of what anyone else thinks.

it seems to be accepted that women mature earlier than men. i am married to a bloke who is 11 years older than me and was reciently asked to go out with a bloke who was 10 years younger than me. i have to admit that if i was inclined to go out with other blokes i would have found him immature but the age thing never came into it. in fact it could have been fun for a while

I am 37 and my man is 23. Age to us has never been an issue. To us what matters is the person and who they are on the inside!
