Leads are avaiable at most computer store, whether it happens to be a Parallel or USB connection. As for the software HP's website, depending on its age it maybe in the Legecy area of the software updataes, and with doing it now you get all the latest upgades and fixes, generally any MAC or Windows Plug and Play systems will recognize the device once plugged in and the computer rebooted.
If theis is any help go to the UK, HP website, I know the Bristish use the expression "bin it", I am from Canada

If you mean no power cord, get one at Radio Shack. If you mean no data cable, it has a USB interface so all you need is a USB cable. Also available at RS. The driver (software) and manuals are all available for free from HP. Just google "hp scanjet 2100c" and turn up all this stuff.

The drivers, called TWAIN drivers will be downloadable from the HP website. If it is a USB data lead, then one of those is cheap enough, but not sure how the power gets to it. If the power is supplied by the USB lead, like my Canon, then you have no problems. If it needs an adaptor or lead to plug it into the mains, then you would need to check availability and cost of same.

It might be a useful doorstop, scanner/printer/photocopier combinations are becoming so inexpensive at places like Argos that its not worth buying the power supply and a USB lead just to find out that it has no ink or simply doesn't work.
Yup, just the one comma will have to do for that sentence -I can't see where else I could sensibly put one.

If you're anything like me, you won't throw out a piece of equipment (I'm a hoarder, if you hadn't guessed).
It seems that you've already been given the relevant information so it's pointless me adding anything.
Best of Luck.
The page I've listed takes you to where you select which Operating System you're using.
