This isnt a question but a statement. As I read these questions here,it looks like these debates arent goin anywere.Atheist believe there is not a god and christians believe there is a god.Its like hitting a brick wall. For the christians,Arguing with the atheist will not help,From what the word of god tells me were supposed to warn them not fight with them. The Lord gave them free will,im not defending them, just pointing what the word obviously says.Atheist, I think you've heard about god more than anybody else.Theres no point in arguing with you,our job is done.God has given the warning, you can choose to accept it or not, freewill again. I know all of you are getting points to grow levels,But why keep Biting each others head off?Is it necessary?

Well, I don't know of any atheists who are trying to convince Christians that god does not exist. Of course, that would be a hopless and futile task. However, in recognition that there are some people, with vulnerable minds, who are seriously and openmindedly seeking for answers, it would be unconscionable to leave them exposed only to the myths, superstitions, fairy tales and fantastical delusions of a tribe of ignorant Bronze Age fishermen and wandering goat herders... the Abrahamic death cults of desert monotheism. They need to be advised that there are rational alternatives to such insane idiocies as a 6,000 year-old earth and heaven, a solid 'firmament' structure (the sky) separating the earth from heaven (terrarium earth), talking snakes (with legs) and donkeys, a shepherd staff that turns into an asp, demons chased out of people and into pigs, friendly spirits, evil spirits, walking on water, multiplying loaves and fishes, food falling from the sky, conception by a ghost, people raised from the dead, the sun stopping in its tracks, parting seas, people being bodily sucked up into heaven (which, by the way, lies on the 'other side' of the sky), world-wide flood that drowned the earth to a depth of 40 feet above the tallest mountain, creating people from a dust bunny and a rib, a magical tree of knowledge, god speaking from a burning bush... and ritual cannibalism, by eating god in the form of a cracker.

Dear Revelator,
It is true that some of the debates aren't going anywhere. i do have to say though that from the time i've joined yahoo answers there are those who have sincere questions. Yes there are a number of Christians who have not truly represented Christ in that they may speak truth- but without love. I've seen some very unChrist-like attitudes and answers (and even just lazy answers where people ask a deep theological question and someone answers "look it up in the Bible, etc."
i guess for all the insincere seekers there are sincere seekers. i've been able to answer some questions on homosexuality and other issues where i was able to share the truth but also in an attitude of love. i think this is our job to most definitely proclaim the truth- but also to become all things to all men. i guess what i'm saying is i've yet to get into an argument - because my intention is just to help others.
i say to this not to boast- but just simply to say that Christ is able to use this forum as a way of making himself known and while there are many who may not agree with my answers- (atheists, etc.) they can see a sincere heart to give them the truth and are seeing and not just reading Christ's love.
i agree with you that we need to obey the Scriptures and have our words always seasoned with grace so that we will know how to answer. And that a harsh word stirs up wrath. We have been given mouths with which we can either bless or curse others, and i think sharing the truth is a wonderful way to bless others.
i hope this helps and i am by no means disagreeing with you but sharing a testimony of encouragement to say, that for all the insincere crazy remarks i've seen, i've been able to encourage others and have received some emails outside of yahoo answers where people have asked further questions and been able to have further discussions.
Hope that helps,
Nickster
Love believes all things...
Isaiah also promises that God's word will not return to Him empty. As you said we've a job and it's to be faithful...

Not everyone believes that stating the truth is arguing. Questions are asked, answers are given. Besides, there are people all over the world reading what is posted. You never know who may be helped. Also, there are always new people coming on that haven't been around to hear the past posts. So, get over it.

It's not necessary. But, every so often some good discussions actually occur. It's like 1 in 25 or so, but… sometimes people are mature enough to converse.

Atheists are trying to prevent you Christians from imposing a theocracy on the free citizen, I can't see how that is pointless

I am Agnostic and don't think you have missed the point at all! I would like to thank you for your point. I don't like the feel of having a religion shoved on me, and I don't think believers like that we try to discredit their beliefs at every turn. I think its a what goes around comes around karma thing..... Just my opinion on that!

I never "bite anyone's head off". I answer questions about the bible (those that are sincere) with the word of God.
Don't forget....God's word never returns void. You may think no one listens...but His word penetrates a heart, who knows what may take root there.

I agree. I give them to God! It's pointless. You can't even ask them to explain why they feel the way they do without auguring. I quit. I just really feel sad for them. I hope they open their eyes before it's too late.

a good statement. i am a christian a scientist and a soldier at one time.
i "argue" at times, but rarely does it become heated. i would rather use logic and science as a method of getting my point across. not only is it polite, but is more likely to be taken seriously.
