convicted felons *can* change.

Maybe there out to be a clause that after so many years (5 or 10 whatever) of "clean" living that they should be able to join.

Ask Jimmy Carter or Bill Clinton, because there was a time when it was go to war or go to jail. Times have changed.. Some of the best sargents in the army today were are/were convicted felons in the past because they got in before the cliton/carter military drawdown

I would much rather have the 18 year old.

Felons have this problem with teamwork and Authority, otherwise they wouldn't be felons.

certain you could enlist. even with the undeniable fact that he received't be in a position to get a passport so in case you ever get distant places orders he received't be allowed to flow with you. also if his conviction became for DV, or newborn abuse or homicide he received't be allwoed on the bottom. both to visit/save or live in base housing.

Convicted felons are generally dishonest, unreliable, anti-socialistic, and troblesome, drugged up human beings! The military does not need to inherit societies failures, by melding them into our armed forces.

They will be a burden on our armed forces, and a dangerous influence on its members.

Would you want to be in a foxhole with a convicted felon,
a situation where you may have to depend on one to save your life?

A felon cannot carry a weapon. In the military you have to be able to carry a weapon. Among other things.

The military requires obedience to authority and good discipline, a quality that such people do not have. They showed they do not have it by their actions, and in doing so made themselves ineligible for military service.

They are not trustworthy and have demonstrated that they do not have the character necessary to serve in the armed forces. Also, felons can not bear arms. Military.....guns.....yeah, think about it.
