It can really dry out your hair if you wash it every single day. It is so much better for your hair if you wash it only a few times a week, the natural oils build up which is healthier for your hair and scalp. I used to be an assistant at a posh salon, and the girls who worked there would only wash it a few times a week; with the right products, it seemed like it was always squeaky clean. If you have really thin hair, and you feel like you NEED to wash it daily, then I suggest you deep condition your hair weekly to keep it healthy. And remember, get a cut or trim at least every three months, and use a heat protecting spray before blowdrying and straightening. Good luck! ;)

Washing your hair hair every day does not necessarily lead to damage. First you need to understand that your hair is dead. The only living part is below the scalp. If your hair tends to be oily, washing your hair every day will not hurt your hair...as long as you are using a conditioner. Keep in mind though, even the oiliest of hair needs a daily conditioner. The reason? When you shampoo, the molecules of the shampoo attach to the dirt and oil, then when you rinse you are rinsing it all away. Your scalp and hair need oils to be healthy...so if you wash them away and don't condition to replenish some of those oils..your scalp will actually work twice as hard to put those oils back, thus leading to even oilier hair. There are certain hair products out there made specifically for oily hair...available at all price ranges. If you have dryer hair, washing every day should be safe as long as you are conditioning properly..again, choosing the right product makes all the difference. If you are big on styling tools and products...remember to use a protective spray (like Ion's heat styling spray) and stay away from styling products that contain alcohol. Sometimes it is worth the extra few bucks to purchase GOOD products that suit your hair type and styling needs.

Lot's of things can damage your hair. The sun, the wind, using harsh shampoos and styling products, dying it too often, bleaching is TERRIBLE, blowdrying.

It really depends on the "type" of skin and hair of the person. I wash my hair on a daily basis with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner b/c i have an oily scalp. Having an oily scalp is much healthier for your hair b/c the natural oils are what keeps it shiny and in good condition.

If you have dry hair and your scalp is not oily, then there is no reason to wash you hair on a daily basis. In fact, if it is dry, then try using conditioner only on the ends every other day and see how it looks.

Everyone's hair is different and there are plenty of things that damage it but, you have to find out what is best for your particular hair.

Test out different shampoos and conditioners.
Here are some that I find to be amazing products at reasonable costs.

1. Bed Head by TIGI "Dumb Blonde" shampoo and conditioner
2. The new line of "Dove" in the blue bottle makes my hair really shiny and soft.
3. Mane-n-tail by straight arrow, moisturizing and texturizing
4. Pantene PRO-V smooth

Try taking a simple quiz in a magazine to determine the type you have. Try talking to a dermotologist who can suggest a regimen for you specifically.

Good luck to you :)

That is probably just a myth. I mean if you use shampoo and conditioner that is made to lighten or darken your color it most likely does dry your hair out. If you work out alot it is probably best to wash your hair everyday anyhow. Also a little tip is you should soak your hair in normal water before going in the pool or the beach. I read an article about how hair is like a sponge and if it absorbs good water then less of the salt and chlorine will get in

It doesn't damage it, it just makes it drier and more prone to damage. But if you wash your hair AND blow dry it, straighten it, or use other hot tools daily, then your hair will be definitely be more damaged. The only reason why you should need to wash your hair everyday would be if you have extremely oily hair, or if your hair gets really dirty.

I know I am fabulous!

No. That is totally just a myth. I wash my hair every single day, sometimes I even wash it 2x a day and I still get compliments.

Depends on your hair type. It also depends on what else your doing to your hair. Have you colored it? Straightened it? Permed it? Do you use alot of styling products?

The best way to tell, is to actually do it. how does YOUR hair feel when you wash it daily? or every other day? every third?

Always use a good conditioner that is designed for your hair type.

No it's actually health because it takes out all the oils but never wash it twice a day because your hair will be weaker and you will get split ends....but if you are worried that your hair will get weakened if you wash it everyday wash it with cold water because it makes your hair folicoles stronger.

Yes it removes the natural oils from your scalp, but if you cannot get by without the daily wash then use a mild shampoo, or you can use a dry shampoo like bristows
