I hear so many times of how the military brainwashes people and yadda yadda yadda. It must feel real good to sit on the couch eating twinkies, and watching opera knowing some brainwashed kid is protecting your lazy @$$. My question for you is who's going to protect you if we didn't have the brave men and women fighting for you. Everytime you exercise you freedoms, remember it has a soldier's blood on it. You exercise rights given to you by the lives of service members (myself) and critisize them in the same breath. Didn't they fight so yo can have that right?

For the few who asked, I am in the miltary. I have been in for six years now and don't regret it. I am currently in Iraq at Camp Victory!! Oh and even though you wouldn't I would give my life for this country because I want my kids to have a better future than the present.

Not everyone is against the servicemen and service women. My dtr. father is over there in Iraq now, busting his a** for people over here! Does anyone really care? I think alot of people do. When there was a tremendous loss in Brookpark, Ohio, thousands of people came together to tell the soldiers families that their fathers, husbands, wives, and children did not die in vain and they died for a cause that they believed in. Every time I see that a soldier has been killed or hurt the first thing I do is pray for their family. I am sorry you feel like no one is behind our troops, but there are a lot of supporters for our troops! I hope my dtr can see her father whom she hasn't met yet and she is 3 because he is over there in Iraq, but I tell her every time she cries that she wants a daddy-to raise her head and walk down the street with pride because her daddy loved her so much that he is fighting for her and mommy to be able to live a free life! To hell with anyone else who doesn't support our troops!

Very well said!! My hubby has been in 18 years. I'm so proud of him. I have nothing but respect for him and his fellow soldiers. Being the wife of a soldier holds a certain amount of pride itself. Just look at these replies you got. They just don't get it. Nobody is brainwashed. We all think for ourselves. We all have some sort of life away from the military. Yes, they "own" us, but they don't own our thoughts. At least we don't listen to all the biased propaganda out there and believe that's the only side of the story. As a soldier, you fully know both sides....you have to. Sometimes I dread the day we retire because we'll be side by side with these people. NOT ALL, but most have no idea what it's like. I wonder how they'd all feel if we did pull out of Iraq and the fighting started on American soil again, just like WTC. Do you think they'd still think we were brainwashed or beg us to help them??
HooAh!! Keep up the good work and congrats on your career choice. We haven't regretted it, even after 3 deployments to the sandbox. He's now a Drill Sergeant. Goodness only knows what the rest of his career holds, but we're ready to face it head on.
God bless and best of luck!!

All of you who don't believe thar our soldiers are fighting for our freedom need to remember September 11th. Do you wonder why it hasn't happened again? It hasn't happened because our military is proactive. We take the fight to them instead of waiting to be a victim. I guess if I believe in what my husband is doing, then I am "brainwashed" too.

Thank you for your service to this great country. To all those who said they support the troops but not the President remember he is Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces. If you don't support him you don't support the troops.

well said. BRAVO!!!.. It's amazing what people say about our president and military. If it wasn't for our brave military fighting for us, the people doing all of the military bashing would really get what they deserve. It might be so bad that they would lose their freedom of speech and be beheaded for saying some of those slanderous things they say now.

From what?
Imported straw dogs?
Hey.
You talk too much.
You weren't in Brooklyn when the Mafia and every hood was eating up everything in sight. And still is.
And the freaking cops look the other way if they want to get paid. In every square inch of this country.
Okay?
So, save it he - ro. You - are a non entity in that scenario. Play hero to the politicians.
Besides.
We all know how you really operate.
Finish out your tour so you can collect the bennies and lie to the civilians. Or are you one of those beret wearing wussies? Then this would make a lot more sense. No real ground pounder comes off llike a chump.
