ive been saying this for a long time

if the people bashing on satanism would look into it they'd see satanism worships no diety...its the belief that you should hold yourself above all others...

and when you look at the commandments of both LaVeyan Satanism and Christianity...the satanic ones make more since for the modern day

The Satanic Commandmants:

Do not give opinion or advice unless you are asked.
Do not tell your troubles to others unless you are sure they want to hear them.
When in another's lair, show him respect or else do not go there.
If a guest in your lair annoys you, treat him cruelly and without mercy.
Do not make sexual advances unless you are given the mating signal.
Do not take that which does not belong to you unless it is a burden to the other person and he cries out to be relieved.
Acknowledge the power of magic if you have employed it successfully to obtain your desires. If you deny the power of magic after having called upon it with success, you will lose all you have obtained.
Do not complain about anything to which you need not subject yourself.
Do not harm little children.
Do not kill non-human animals unless attacked or for your food.
When walking in open territory, bother no one. If someone bothers you, ask him to stop. If he does not stop, destroy him.

The Christian ones:

I
I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. (Exodus 20:2-3)

II
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. (Exodus 20:4-6)

III
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. (Exodus 20:7)

IV
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it. (Exodus 20:8-11)

And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
(Matthew 22:39-40)

V
Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. (Exodus 20:12)

VI
Thou shalt not kill. (Exodus 20:13)

VII
Thou shalt not commit adultery. (Exodus 20:14)

VIII
Thou shalt not steal. (Exodus 20:15)

IX
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour . (Exodus 20:16)

X
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ***, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's. (Exodus 20:17)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

but bacically the bottom line reason for it is until Anton Szalar LaVey established the church of satan Satanism and Devil Worship ment the same thing
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

then you look at the 9 Satanic Sins VS the Christian 7 Deadly Sins

Satanic:

Stupidity--The top of the list for Satanic Sins. The Cardinal Sin of Satanism. It's too bad that stupidity isn't painful. Ignorance is one thing, but our society thrives increasingly on stupidity. It depends on people going along with whatever they are told. The media promotes a cultivated stupidity as a posture that is not only acceptable but laudable. Satanists must learn to see through the tricks and cannot afford to be stupid.
Preteniousness--Empty posturing can be most irritating and isn't applying the cardinal rules of Lesser Magic. On equal footing with stupidity for what keeps the money in circulation these days. Everyone's made to feel like a big shot, whether they can come up with the goods or not.
Solipsism--can be very dangerous for Satanists. Projecting your reactions, responses, and sensibilities onto someone else who is probably far less attuned that you are. It is the mistake of expecting people to give you the same consideration, courtesy, and respect that you naturally give them. They won't. Instead Satanists must strive to apply the dictum of "Do unto others as they do onto you." It's work for most of us and requires constant vigilance lest you slip into a comfortable illusion of everyone being like you. As has been said, certain utopias would be ideal in a nation of philosophers, but unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately, from a Machiavellian viewpoint) we are from that point.
Self-Deciet--It's in the Nine Satanic Statements but deserves to be repeated here. Another cardinal sin. We must not pay homage to any of the sacred cows presented to us, including the roles we are expected to play ourselves. The only time self-deciet should be entered is when it is fun, and with awareness. But then, it's not self-deciet!
Herd Conformity--That's obvious from a Satanic stance. It's all right to conform to a person's wishes, if it ultimately benefits you. But only fools follow along with the herd, letting an impersonal entity dictate to you. The key is to choose a master wisely instead of being enslaved by the whims of many.
Lack of Perspective--Again, this one can lead to alot of pain for a Satanist. You must never lose sight of who and what you are, and what a threat you can be, by your very existence. We are making history right now, everyday. Always keep the wider historical and social picture in mind. That is an important key to both Lesser and Greater Magic. See the patterns and fit the things together as you want the pieces to fall into place. So not be swayed herd constraints--know that you are working on another level entirely from the rest of the world.
Forgetfulness of Past Orthodoxies--Be aware that this one of the keys to brainwashing people into accepting something as "new" and "different", when in reality it's something that was once widely accepted but is now presented in a new package. We are expected to rave about the genius of the "creator" and forget the original. This makes for a disposable society.
Conterproductive Pride--The first word is important. Pride is great up to the point you begin to throw out the baby with the bathwater. The rule of Satanism is if it works for you, great. When it stops working for you, when you've painted yourself into a corner and the only way out is to say, "I'm sorry, I made a mistake, I wish we could compromise somehow," then do it
Lack of Aesthetics--This is the physical application of the Balance Factor. It is important in Lesser Magic and should be cultivated. It is obvious that no one can collect any money off it most of the tome so it si discouraged in a consumer society, but is an essential Satanic tool and must be applied for magical effectiveness. It's not what's supposed to be pleasing--it's what is. Aesthetics is a highly personal thing, reflective of one's own nature, but there are universally pleasing and harmonious configurations that should not be denied.

Then the Christian:

Pride is excessive belief in one's own abilities, that interferes with the individual's recognition of the grace of God. It has been called the sin from which all others arise. Pride is also known as Vanity.

Envy is the desire for others' traits, status, abilities, or situation.

Gluttony is an inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires.

Lust is an inordinate craving for the pleasures of the body.

Anger is manifested in the individual who spurns love and opts instead for fury. It is also known as Wrath.

Greed is the desire for material wealth or gain, ignoring the realm of the spiritual. It is also called Avarice or Covetousness.

Sloth is the avoidance of physical or spiritual work.

Again the Satanic ones make since more for modern life

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

mostly the reason for the misunderstanding is ignorance, sad but true....

I have a satanist friend, and he also tells me what you say, in fact I went to some websites to check and I know what you mean. This is a simple truth but well worth noting: God says if you are not for Him then you are against Him. Oil and water do not mix. So long as you are not serving God, then you may as well be serving the interests of Gods enemy, satan. Even standing on the fence and being indecisive is not good enough for God. He is an all or nothing God. Imagine if your family only half loved you, is that good enough? No. If you are in my army and I see you changing sides, will I want to keep you in my army or use you as an example to others by court marshaling you? Of course I will not have you in my army if you cannot be loyal. If you remember nothing else ever in your life again please remember this: satan (lower caps on purpose) sugar-coats EVERYTHING. Even the bible says satan is handsome, we know his music is beguiling and his manner is tempting, yet he is the biggest liar ever known to man and God. Be vigilant at all times because he is a wolf in sheep's clothing, a snake in the grass. Two-faced. God is good and wants only good for you, satan is also real and wants to see how much he can confuse you before you die. Never give him that chance.

As you have pointed out, devil-worshippers and Satanists are different things. That people who don't even believe in Satan would choose to call their movement Satanism seems silly to me, but they have a right to call themselves what they want and follow their beliefs freely, just as long as they don't break the law or infringe upon anyone else's rights.

well if you go by Anton LaVey and his form of Satanism
then i see nothing wrong with it.
it seems like it is a religion based on the individual and for this could seem to be a bit selfish but religion is a personnell choice and that is ok with me.

i have met more satanists that were good people than i have christians that i would consider good people.

satanists seem to respect other people's beliefs (with one exception being christianity) and have reasons within their religion to not respect the christian religion,,,beings that when Lavey started it it was because he saw the hyprocacy in the christian church.

and they tend to treat others well...unless they be a child murderer or molester...

i dont see anythign wring with it...

now devil worship is a differant thing all together......

folks have the freedom to do it if they choose but i see the diliberate calling of negative energies and many of their other practices to be dangerous and to cause a lot of un-needed pain and strife...

Actually, they're not. The difference between Satanism/Devil worship and say, christianity, is self-centeredness versus others centered. Both satanism/devilworship are the opitome of narcissism.

That LaVey Satanist isn't bad. They basically preach things like why deny your sexual urges like the Church does if it is a natural desire.

As for the baby sacraficing devil worshipers--they're myths and urban legends. None have ever been found or documented.

Sorry, Satanists are reverse Catholics. Their Black Mass is said just like the Catholic mass but backwards and using Satan instead of Jesus. Satanist accept religion and aren't necessarily atheists. The fact that they believe in Satan thus means they believe in a god just as Christians who believe in Jesus believe in Satan or Zoroastrians who believe in a Yahweh / Shatan two-faced god.

Devil Worshipers can be Satanists who ask favors from a minion (daemon or devil) of Satan. Or they can simply be followers of Beelzebub or the like.

Satanism and Christians is the same thing. A cult or religion without proof, just based on a need for something different than this world. Cease the day. Be who you are don't try to imitate anybody.

I do. What is the point of worshipping Satan? He's evil, and he'll take you down with him. People underestimate the devil and what he can do to people. Atheism is when you believe there is no God. Satanism is when you worship Satan. Anyway, I believe in the bible.

LaVeyan Satanist myself. It's pretty funny how most people that oppose Satanism don't really get that it's Atheistic. We use the mythological Satan as a symbol.

I personally enjoy their company. Strangely enough Satanists are rather open people. They simply do not tolerate ignorance in mass.
