It hurts because that is not what your bum is for. The Sphincter is a muscle that always contracts to it's original size and will automatically try to reject anything going in. it wont hurt so much if you just relax..its like your vaginal opening..it can stretch as you have sex and it wont hurt anymore..and the anal ddoesnt secrete any discharge..so use lots of lub, that will help with pain too
