A good christian message can be given in any element, but when you start mixing profanity, nudity and sin in with the word of God, and the word becomes second, then we have a problem...

I have noticed this trend too. People are drawn to the plot line of someone giving their life up for others (Saving Private Ryan, Blackhawk Down) and a hero that people can stand behind morally. But, the one thing I have noticed, is that since "Christian" themed movies have come out, the Christian community has seemed to forgot about Hollywood's non-christian themed movies. I can remember a couple years back where people where promoting media fasts and giving up on R-rated movies, but I have not heard a single sermon on that in a long while. It seems that Hollywood has been appeasing the Christian community with movies like Narnie, Passion, Lord of the Rings, etc, and the Christian community claims victory out of that, even though other movies are getting worse and worse. The Christian community has even sold themselves out so much as to advertise movies for Hollywood, who will then take that money for other movies. But it is OK somehow because we can take our friends to that one Christian movie. Maybe it is time to stop looking for the small themes about Christ and open our eyes to the world around us. Maybe we should be looking for ways to teach people about Christ through conversations about movies with broken themes, and not be afraid to go out into the world and show people why Christ is important in that world. Well, that's enough of my rant.

I grew up in Los Angeles. It really is nothing new. This is an idea that we often spoke of in our youth - how most of the movies seem to have two themes or a combination of the two - love stories (good or bad) or good vs. evil. Good vs. Evil often mimicking God vs. Devil, Heaven and Hell, etc, etc... even the movie Star Wars is blatantly good vs. evil - Darth being dressed in black and the other being white... also interesting is how that particular movie mimicks the Germans vs. the Jewish nation - with Darth Vader and his commanders acting and dressing like the Nazi's... which by the way, also weaves a love story at its core! You see! So simplistic is Hollywood! It seems to be the most important aspect of the human condition - the idea of love whether good, bad or ugly - or the idea of a higher power - however portrayed...

everyone might disagree w/ me.. but here goes my answer.. i think that its cool how hollywood movies incorporate the christian message but they dont just shove it in ur face.. u have to analyze a movie in order to notice.. therefore the ppl that do notice are mature and they are able to analyze movies. thats mainly teh reason why they're not made obvious.. another reason they're not made obvious is because the movie would not make money.. i mean who would want to go watch a movie about God?? i think most ppl wont unless its a movie about blasphemy like the Da Vinci Code.. but thats jus my opinion

God is everywhere.
I like the idea of movies that appeal to a broad base with partial christian ideas. It makes people wonder, dream, and ask questions.
And yes, liberals as myself, are christians too.

It's a popular theme in Hollywood because it is a popular theme in society.

Hollywood will use Christ in any way they can make money, either to profane His Holy Name, or to "praise" His Holy Name. To Hollywood, Jesus Christ is just another marketing variable to make themselves richer and more famous, or infamous, depending on your perspective. God Bless you.

Aslan(sp?) was like Jesus, he died and came back.

I think there needs to be a few less Christian-themed movies.
