Well, first off, comb your hair ALOT, and don't just brush it. Use a comb and really get at the roots, to get out all of the existing scales. Then wash your hair with something that doesn't contain sodium lauryl or laureth sulfide. (head and shoulders is an exception) Don't just use one shampoo, swich around every few days. Use a good conditioner. Try to stop blowdrying your hair for awhile. When you scrub your hair, scrub it good and hard, at the roots. Don't scratch though, because that can cause leisons. Let the shampoo sink in, to really work. That may be part of the problem....

try a dandruff shampoo! Ok so click here http://www.coolnurse.com/dandruff.htm and scroll down a bit and it'll tell you all about dandruff and dandruff shampoo! Here's a little about what it will tell you!
"One of the best known treatments for dandruff for years was Head & Shoulders. The new dandruff shampoos have changed quite a bit and have become a lot more sophisticated. Pantene make a good dandruff shampoo.
The best approach is to pick a product and try it. If the product works and is successful at controlling your dandruff, continue to use it. It is important to remember that there is no known "official" cure for dandruff. Once you have the problem the best that you can hope for is management and control.
When using a retail dandruff product it is recommended that this product will need to be used continually. Once dandruff shampoos or products are discontinued, the dandruff will return. Thorough cleansing of the scalp and the hair will keep dandruff flakes out of sight for up to three days. It takes the scalp up to three days before it can generate a new batch of flakes.
A key point to remember is to select the mildest shampoo possible. Although detergent based shampoos will clean the hair and scalp well, they often cause drying will will make the flaking worse."
Dont forget to click the link and read all about it! Hope this helps!

I've tried Head & Shoulders, some Neutrogena brand, and the generic brand of Head & Shoulders. I did not like the Neutrogena shampoo.
Use the dandruff shampoo every OTHER day, or once you get it under control, once every 3 days or so. Do NOT use dandruff shampoo EVERY day, or the dandruff gets worse!!

omgshh! common misconceptions of shampoo/conditioner application that leads to common dandruff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1. never and i mean NEVER apply ANY conditoner on or near scalp/roots. evne with thourough washing skin absorbs it then lets it out in the form of dandruff.
2. shampoo: u only need it on scalp and roots!. jsut lather and rub scalp thouroghly for 5 minutes. if any falls on other hair it doesnt matter. focus on roots and scalp!
3. hair cremes/hairspray/gel: sounds stupid but try not too apply any on roots or scalp. dandruff central!!!!!
try this for a bit. if all else fails after a week (wash hair 4 times a week) then i suggest head and shoulders dry hair. good luck.
