Most babies neither cry nor scream when baptised. If a child is reacting negatively, perhaps that child is responding to the concerns of the adults in attendance. I might even be the religious person who is doing the baptism. If I was the mother or father, I'd take my child and provide love and comfort if the child was upset - no matter what was going on during the ceremony at the time,

No, Holy Water does not burn. They are probably just fussing because I can guarantee that not all babies scream when they are being baptized, just some. The ones with the dirty diapers. :)

All babies would scream if a whole bunch of people were quiet looking at them while they're being dipped in water.

And not all babies cry when getting baptized. I've never seen any cry, anyway...

Babies scream because they are shocked, surprised and scared by the water being poured on them for no reason by a stranger. It is a natural baby reaction to something that is new and unexpected.

I don't believe in baptizing babies, but seriously, you must not be a mother, babies scream for soooo many reasons.

Well consider this. Your a small baby and your mother has just passed you on to a weird dude who pours cold water on your head and says aload of words! You'd cry as well, if you had that happen to you.

They are being forced to participate in a morbid superstitious ritual, I'd scream too.
