male dogs pee with their leg up to mark trees that are at nose level. They also lift their leg because the position of their "parts" make it easier to do so.

Male cats pee squatting because their "part" are located directly under their anus. Its almost impossible to pee with a leg up. When the term "spray" is used with a male cat, it is because he lifts his tail and "shoots" the pee out....so to speak.

Good luck describing that. Just say they are in different places, just like how mommy sits and daddy stands.

Only male dog pee with their hind leg up so as not to wet their legs, for cats it's due to their smaller size and also the body structure.

mmm...i think, it is because a male cat's "Private bits" and a female cats are in the same place, and its more comfortable to wee that way where a male dog who is very territorial will mark his place standing up missing his own leg, cats dont mark their territory by weeing, they spray and leave scents that they produce through their facial glands and ...mmm bottom...ha ha, how akward....not sure how u will explain this to her, but anyhow it might not even be the correct answer. Good Luck I tried...lol.

Dogs are more likely to pee against something like a tree or a fire hydrant - lifting their leg allows them to pee on the object rather than beside it.
