That is true to an extent- it is the death of your old self and birth of the new. Baptism is the cleansing of sins. To say that Jesus made anything clear is speculatory, because the only thing He could make clear to mankind, was what mankind is limited to understanding.
The Bible is accurate in every way as for the message, events, and prophesies- but the message itself is deeper that churches even try to teach, because most people cannot grasp things so unimaginable.

Yes, you are correct. The baptism by immersion is symbolic of burial and coming forth to new life. The temporal person is buried in the water and comes forth a new spiritual person, washed clean of sins and commiting to following Jesus life and example. We are buried in the water as He was so that we can come forth again as He was. It is symbolic of the death and resurrection as well as the cleansing of sin to become a new spiritual being. Just about everything in the Bible is symbolic of physical and spiritual. We are expected to learn the difference. As we do things pysically, they carry spiritual consequences. Being crude and vulgar on earth not only makes us less desireable to our fellow beings, it also makes us unclean to God. Thus, we need repentance and baptism to become and remain clean. Likewise, we will not be resurrected until we have paid the price of our sins either by repentance and acceptance of Christ's atonement or by our own torment.

We are baptised for the repentance of sins
Jesus knew no sin, why was he baptised ?
One theory is that he took the baptism for people who for whatever reason couldn't be baptised on their own.

Yes you are right. Baptism is a public confession of faith. Going into the water symbolizes our death to sin and coming up out of the water symbolizes being raised with Christ.

The idea behind the Baptism of Jesus, is not that Jesus needed Baptism to cleanse himself, but rather, Jesus made the waters to become sacramentally valid to be used to cleanse us in our Baptism.
The water did nothing for Him, it was Him that did something for the water.

Everyone is born with the original sin of Adam and Eve on them. Baptism washes away the original sin. This is why, until recently, Catholic babies who died before they were baptized could not go to Heaven. Instead, they went to Limbo. But now the Catholic Church has closed Limbo down, so who knows where they go now.

According to the Baptist belief, of which I am a member, we believe this is true. When the pastor immerses you, it signifies burial of the old self, and when you come up, it is taken as re-birth into the spirit. God bless you;.
