I was in Dharan a long time ago and really liked it. Also Jiddah which I liked even better. It seemed like a nice place, I just wish you allowed Christians to worship there freely.

Salamu alaikum. I am Mexican and Buddhist, but studied Islam for a while and have several Muslim friends. There are certain things that make me wary about Islam in Saudi Arabia
How can you prevent Saudi women from driving in the 21st. century?!
Why are the births and deaths of women in Saudi Arabia not registered? (or that is what the book of Sultana says)
Is is true that you pay the family for a bride?
How can Saudi Arabia import prostitutes from Eastern European countries for the fun of royal princes? They should be exemplary Muslims, given that Mecca and Medina are in Saudi Arabia.
No, I don't think all Muslims are terrorists. Out of the 1.1 billion Muslims in the world, only a very small fraction agree with/participate in Jihad. And I agree that Osama bin Laden gives a bad name to Islam, but, at the same time, he is the only one brave enough to stand against America.

I have heard many good things about Saudi Arabia. Like all places, I am sure it has its good points as well as its bad.
Probably my biggest problems with it are that there are some who live extravagent lifestyles while their fellow country men are in need. I know the same can be said of my country (the US). Also, I think they bring in to many Westerners for high paying jobs when they should be educating their own people.
I also have a problem with only allowing people to practice the Islamic religion. How genuine is faith when it is not made from free choice? God gave us all free will to accept him and his ways, why must a government interfere with the consciences of its people?

I have nothing against Saudis. I have had a best friend who is Saudi. I do feel tho, that the whole Muslim world must stand up against terrorism. If they don't----the day will come when these terrorists will try to take over them, too. Remember Afghanistan?
These fanatics are not living Islam as it should lived. They are misfits in society and must be gotten rid of. But, the world cannot do it without the help of the Muslim world.

Dear Brother, may Allah bless you. I have lived in Saudi Arabia and I find most Saudis to be peaceful people. It is sad that some give a bad name to so many. In my view these folks are installed by our enemies to represent us, so they can beat up on us using them as an excuse. Notice how no one knows where they are, and they can never be found.
You wonder if they are in the protection of those who are running the witch hunt against the terrorists. Ironically some of the gullible Muslims do fall into the trap of their high rhetoric and appearance making them seem good Muslims.
This is in response to one of the responders whose name is Fatima, who asked where peace is defined.
Quran 5:32 says KILLING ONE innocent is equal to killing all humanity and saving one innocent life is saving all humanity. The context is the killing of Abel by Cain, and thus killing all generations of Abel that were to come in his lineage.
Holding hands in front of other people is a corrupt practice which encourages others to do that too. THAT is why one can not have sex on the street, because certain behaviors are appropriate only in a private setting. Those who are more animal are less restricted. Dogs can have sex in teh streets too.
I hope this makes sense.

I feel sorry for you guys because of bin Laden. I have a few Muslim friends who I love dearly, and they HATE bin Laden.
I find that "good Muslims" are some of the most pleasant people to be around. It's a real shame that your religion has been hijacked by the madman bin Laden.
I fully support a truly Muslim backlash against terrorism...

what do these people have in common?
Osama bin ladin.
Saddam Hussien.
both were supported by "western" nations to fight enemies of the west, the USSR in Bin Ladin's case, and Iran in Saddam's.
to me they were and still are allies and were put there to cause turmoil in the region.
the problem in the disputed land will never end both the Palestinian and Israeli governments want the war to last as long as possible! if the war ends the money will stop flowing.
Hezbullah's Nassrallah was on TV a few days ago apologising, saying he wouldn't have ordered the kidnapping of the Israeli solders if he knew all this devastation would happen! to me that makes him a stupid leader, he saw what the Israelis did in Gaza can't he put one and one together?!
look at the billions of damage that has happened to Lebanon! look at the billions and billions in support that will pour there! where will most if it go?! who will get the contracts to rebuilt the place?
In Saudi Arabia, the country wants to push forward, but there are a lot of uneducated people there that want things to stay the way they are! it's hard but hopefully for the sake of the country progress will happen, slowly though remember there are over 20 million inhabitants in the country!
Islam is a religion of peace, the prophet lived next to a Jew in Madinah, the whabbi's are stupid say that this no Christians and Jews in the peninsula is just rubbish! and forcing people to pray and follow their way is un-Islamic! in the quran in says Al-Baqara, Chapter #2, Verse #256 "Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things." and in chapter #109 the whole surrah says:
1Say : O ye that reject Faith!
2I worship not that which ye worship,
3Nor will ye worship that which I worship.
4And I will not worship that which ye have been wont to worship,
5Nor will ye worship that which I worship.
6To you be your Way, and to me mine.
and Islam forbids destroying any place of worship they should be respected! but the Wahabbis are blinded and arrogant!
chapter 2 versus 8 to 18 describes them well:
8Of the people there are some who say: "We believe in Allah and the Last Day;" but they do not (really) believe.
9Fain would they deceive Allah and those who believe, but they only deceive themselves, and realise (it) not!
10In their hearts is a disease; and Allah has increased their disease: And grievous is the penalty they (incur), because they are false (to themselves).
11When it is said to them: "Make not mischief on the earth," they say: "Why, we only Want to make peace!"
12Of a surety, they are the ones who make mischief, but they realise (it) not.
13When it is said to them: "Believe as the others believe:" They say: "Shall we believe as the fools believe?" Nay, of a surety they are the fools, but they do not know.
14When they meet those who believe, they say: "We believe;" but when they are alone with their evil ones, they say: "We are really with you: We (were) only jesting."
15Allah will throw back their mockery on them, and give them rope in their trespasses; so they will wander like blind ones (To and fro).
16These are they who have bartered Guidance for error: But their traffic is profitless, and they have lost true direction,
17Their similitude is that of a man who kindled a fire; when it lighted all around him, Allah took away their light and left them in utter darkness. So they could not see.
18Deaf, dumb, and blind, they will not return (to the path).
People READ you have a brain! THINK don't let others tell you how or what! don't be brain washed think!!

I don't know you so I can't hate you ,but I believe the only way Muslims might be able to repair their damaged reputations is to stand up united as Americans and not support groups that breed the hate of Americans .show that you don't support terrorists groups .maybe your religious sector can do something charitable for new york since 9-11 is coming up.I do not believe in racism and Muslims should not be targeted just because of a few ignorant people that live in caves and like to blow up crap.
well may Alla keep on blessing you and keep you safe!

Why is it that if an American visits your country if he has a Bible it is taken and shredded at the airport? Why are Jews not allowed in your country?
Bin Laden is not a Muslim? My Taqiyya alarm is ringing.
