How in the hell can you say that there should be a set date for troop withdrawal from Iraq? Do you have any idea what that will cause? I agree it is time we need to bring some troops back, but there is no way we can withdraw more than 50% between now and january. Comprimise people!!!

You forget that between 35% and 50% are going to be coming back between now and January anyway, through regular rotation.
All it would take to reduce our total deployment is simply not send more troops over, and keep return schedules as they already are That achieves around an 80% effective withdrawal over the next 8-12 months, just based on current return schedules.
And since I have friends scheduled to leave for their second tour in Iraq later this fall, I for one would be happy not sending them back into harms' way.

If we could get the United Nations to deploy peace keeping troops than we could start withdrawing some troops. The end of this war should begin at the UN.

I agree, first off it would be difficult to physically get them home in that time frame. The real problem is why not send a letter to the terrorist saying you can have Iraq on this date, we will be gone. I bet fighting would slow down because they could out last us.
What ever gave Americans of today the thought that they could or should make military decisions. WWI & WWII would have been lost is those back home decided when to cut & run. They are trying to set a reasonable timetable to bring home our troops, believeme, I want my family back when the job is done.

Forgetting compromising with liberals not working...how can you compromise on the mission? We either need to be there or we don't. If we are going to be there we need enough to do the job. There is no room for compromise as I see it. So many troops are required and the military needs to decide how many, not ted kennedy and that bunch.

What is turncoat about bringing our military home from a war we never should've been in??? What's wrong with a time table?? It's better than "we'll not leave Iraq during my Presidency". If that's being a turncoat then I guess you'll just have to call me one.

Bush took us there with an ill conceived plan, not enough troops, and with no connection to 9/11. Now that we have really screwed the place up, we have to leave it at least as we found it.

Compromise? Do liberals ever compromise on anything? How could they, aren't they always right? At least, that's what they tell me.
