First off, do those food savers work. What kind of things do you freeze in them? And second, how fast do you go through the refills, are they costly?? Thanks.

They work perfectly but the only set back is that if you have an older one, you can't store anything that might have liquid it them. For example fresh picked fruits and vegetables. You can basically store whatever you want. I buy certain foods in bulk, and store that in the food saver bag, vacumn, and stick it right in the freezer. The food tastes just like it should when you eat it. The bags are a bit expensive, specially the larger sized ones, but they are on sale occasionally so I stock up then. You actually will save a few bucks if you use the food saver because you can buy in bulk and then freeze. Just make sure you buy enough bags and containers to last until they are on sale again. Oh by the way, the refills are usually on sale at stores where kitchen items are the only things to buy.
