Why three strikes? why not just two?

In all fairness to him, if the employer has done a reasonable job in his pre-hiring procedure and it is found later by the Immigration Service or other law enforcement agency that the illegal immigrant has forged papers - the employer should be off the hook.

On the other hand, if the employer doesn't do a reasonable job in checking out his hires or, worse, he knowingly hires illegals and pays them under the table - he should face felony charges and stiff fines for each violation. If it occurs a second time, he should face jail time.

I agree! There is NO good reason why America should give jobs to illegal aliens. All American jobs should be offered to citizens only and they should offer the proper pay rate. Take a look around at jobs these days and it's like fly sh i t in a sugar bowl because some employers give illegals a reason to want to come here and take our jobs away for sh i tty pay. There should be a penalty for hiring them.

Yes they should. In fact in some countries it is required by law (according to that country) that employers MUST hired residence of that country first and then non-residence if no one takes that job

i seriously think making illegals a felon is as fair as telling white people that they have to go back to europe because their great great great great grandfather stole land from indians, mexico and imposed their own language..... i mean they are not doing anything to you........ i say you kick all the ones that ARE doing bad to the country... like all the ones that are in jail for killing or robing or doing real bad stuff... just cuz some want to have a better life (like your great great great great grandfather did when they stole land that wasnt theirs)it doesnt mean we have to criminalize them.......... dude get your facts together... the answer that you are trying to get across is just wrong.... dont criminalize people that are here to work and have a good life. or are you telling me that immigrants are smarter than you that is why they took your job... i think that is complete bull man sorry about that........ but its your opinion and i respect it ....but no i dont think its time and it will never be time to criminalize someone that is trying to make their life better

Under what mental standard? Willful? Reckless? Strict Liability?

Do we hold them liable only if they know they are breaking the laws and do it anyway? Do we hold companies liable if they check ID, but don't realize the ID was forged? Are they liable if they think they are following the laws, but the laws were so complex they missed a step?
