I had a Chevy cavalier and now have a Jetta. NIGHT and DAY. I went from cloth crappy seats with no options what so ever!! to heated leather seats, heated mirrors, power all, and much more along with a great driving experience. Germans really know how to make fun cars. As for maintenance.... Like I said i went from a cheap car to this one not thinking I need 'special' parts and dealer only fluid, oh boy was it a nightmare. I had such engine problems, slug and ticking.... Til I actually did research on German cars. I now treat it like a German car. So now I've got a reliable car. Learn what you buy so you don't put yourself in a hole. Ask vwvortex instead of these ppl, most do not own vws and will give you false info

I have a passat and really like it. It has a lot more room then the Jetta especially nice if it is a family car. The only thing wrong with the VW is that they are expenisve to maintain.

My answer is neither, VW's are image cars that have a poor reliability record and are expensive as heck to maintain. If you want a sporty family car check out a Mazda 6 or scrap the sporty and get an Accord. European imports are notorious for their repair problems and poor build quality.

I have a 07 Passat Wagon 2.0T. Great car, great mileage(35+mpg highway) - and sporty, too! So you can have both - make a test drive!

Neither, the problem of VW is that they are expensive to buy and to maintain. Repairs (not very reliable) have to be done in the dealership what makes it more expensive. Toyota, Honda, Buick, Ford or Chrysler have better deals and more reliable.
Dodge Magnum?

with gas prices going up and up, the best choice would be to get the Jetta. its very very good on fuel and looks good too, plus its got alot of power under the hood with the 6 cill. or the 8

very unreliable...if i were you i'd def. check out the chevy cobalt SS supercharged...really fast and you can fit the whole family in. they come in really cool colors too. i know some people would disagree with me on that one but GM's quality has really gone up. they recently tied honda in a quality test, so i'd say def. check them out. stay away from ford.
